Position Overview:

As a Project Manager, you’ll be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing power & energy construction projects from inception to completion. This role ensures projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget while maintaining adherence to contract requirements, safety, and company requirements.

Job Description:
- Lead the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closing of multiple projects simultaneously.
- Understand and effectively use project management systems and strong, disciplined project management practices to achieve positive scope, schedule, quality, and cost results and manage and mitigate risks on each project.
- Effectively communicate and engage with all stakeholders, focusing on driving project engagement and ensure delivery is in alignment with business goals.
- Demonstrate ability to lead effectively through ambiguity by bringing structure, clarity, and direction to complex, evolving initiatives.
- Manage stakeholder expectations and foster strong relationships to support project success.
- Coordinate diverse project teams, including internal staff and outsourced resources, to deliver projects on time and within budget.
- Lead and manage project teams, providing guidance, coaching, and support to ensure high performance.
- Support and contribute to departmental continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing processes, efficiency, and overall project management maturity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operations of construction projects from start to finish.
- Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with clients, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure design and execution alignment.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, utilities, and regulatory bodies.
- Provide regular progress updates and manage expectations effectively.
- Prepare and manage project budgets, including material, labor, and equipment costs.
- Monitor financial performance and implement cost-control measures.
- Lead project teams and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
- Resolve conflicts and ensure smooth collaboration among all parties.
- Ensure adherence to contract requirements, safety, and company requirements.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Manage change orders and unforeseen challenges effectively.
- Provide regular progress reports to senior management.
- Maintain accurate documentation of project activities.
Requirements:
- Post-secondary education in a related field; certifications in Project Management (PMP or equivalent) are an asset.
- Relevant trades experience in Industrial Electrical, Instrumentation, Heavy Duty Mechanic or steel fabrication experience are an asset.
- 3+ years of experience in project management, managing construction projects with a focus on business improvement and change management.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Training in Process Management, Change Management, Quality Management
- Strong organizational, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, including facilitation and presentation skills.
- Ability to influence without authority and manage ambiguity effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
- Consulting experience and familiarity with Caterpillar or dealer organizations are considered assets.
Important:
- This position is based out of our Calgary location.
- Temporary, full-time role.
- 6-month project duration with possibility for extension.
- Monday – Friday, 5x2 schedule.
