Overview

The Project Manager – Convention and Event Services position oversees, coordinates, and manages all project logistics for City-approved contracts and project components related to the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas (KBHCCD) Master Plan and other planning, design, and construction work for the department.

Essential Functions

1 Manages, coordinates, and facilitates all KBHCCD Master Plan components and activities as a direct report to the Senior Project Manager and indirect report to the Assistant Director.

2 Monitors the contracted Project Manager/Owner’s Representative, architect/engineer, design firm, and construction manager using the Project Charter and Plan to ensure compliance with the project scope and delivery timeframes.

3 Coordinates and provides coordination with the internal stakeholder team (City departments) to review logistics, personnel, permitting, and general scheduling to ensure efficient project delivery.

4 Communicates scope of work related to contracts and Master Plan goals/visions/objectives internally and externally to move the project to completion.

5 Researches and implements new processes and procedures to enhance and support the economic development and tourism/hospitality goals of the City.

6 Participates in professional development to ensure highly skilled project management.

7 Reviews, processes, and handles internal requests for meetings, documents, and project updates.

8 Plans, designs, specifies, and communicates project goals and objectives; fosters collaboration and communication to achieve the desired outcome and manages project components through completion.

9 Performs all other work as needed or assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1 Knowledge of City of Dallas processes and procedures and the KBHCCD Master Plan goals/mission/vision and objectives.

2 Knowledge of contract development and contract compliance.

3 Knowledge of project management and coordination.

4 Knowledge of budget development and implementation.

5 Ability to interpret and apply contract specifications.

6 Ability to work with technical and construction staff to implement project goals.

7 Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

8 Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Science, Engineering, Architecture, or Projects or Construction Management field.


EXPERIENCE:

  • Five (5) years of experience in project management, engineering, transportation, construction, or similar field.


EQUIVALENCIES:                             

  • High school diploma or GED plus nine (9) years of the required experience including two years supervisory/project management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • An associate degree in any field plus seven (7) years of the required experience including two years supervisory/project management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a non-specified field plus seven (7) years of the required experience including two years supervisory/project management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.

  • A master's degree or higher in a specified field plus three (3) years of the required experience including two years supervisory/project management experience will meet the education and experience requirements.


LICENSE:

  • Valid Driver's License

  • Project Management certification, LEAN or Six Sigma highly preferred.

  • Professional engineer or architect license preferred.



Salary Range

 

$81,120.00 - $101,400.00


 

The salary listed on this job posting is the starting salary range; amount offered will depend upon qualifications.
