Job Duties:

Plan, direct, or coordinate, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.

Participation and application of DPR’s Environmental Health and Safety Plan to constantly maintain injury-free environments including performing weekly safety audits. Understanding and enforcement of contracts, including between DPR and subcontractors as well as DPR and the owner. Assist the superintendent and project manager in the implementation of DPR policies and the execution of the project. Organizing the duties of other engineers, field office coordinator, project accountant and other assigned project staff. This includes providing direction, prioritization, and performance feedback. Participation in trainings and company meetings to facilitate individual and company growth. Organizing and electronically archiving project files for easy access by the project team. Preparation, monitoring, and updating project schedules.  Working with the superintendent to reduce project constraints’ impact on the schedule. Preparation, maintenance, and implementation of various document control entities such as daily reports, material procurement logs, submittal logs, as-builts, testing and inspection logs, RFI logs, and change order logs. Distribution of new drawings, changes, approved submittals, RFI responses, and other project information to all affected parties.  Identifying, assembling, negotiating, and distributing change orders to both the owner and subcontractors. Preparing agendas, documents, meeting minutes, and actions for various meetings including owner/architect/contractor meetings, subcontractor coordination meetings, safety meetings, and staff meetings. Participating in project cost control. This includes maintaining internal records and working with subcontractors to make sure changes are getting paid. Preparing owner billing by assembling DPR costs, receiving and reviewing subcontractor invoices and organizing the documents in accordance with the owner’s requirements. Monitoring testing and inspection record and reports, safety inspection and accident logs and reports, record building permit inspections and sign-offs.

Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites within commuting distance of DPR Construction’s Reston, Virginia office.

Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field. Must be available to work on projects at various, unanticipated sites within commuting distance of DPR Construction’s Reston, Virginia office.

Special Requirements:

Position requires at least some experience in each of the following skills:

  • Use technical knowledge of preconstruction, estimation and costing of the construction projects to perform Bid analysis, quantity takeoffs and Bid Preparation.
  • Virtual design planning and collaboration with multiple stakeholders to avoid issues in construction, better planning and reduce risks using AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks.
  • Plan, organize, control, integrate and complete construction project management using Procore, CMiC, and ACC Build.
  • Plan and oversee critical electrical and mechanical procedures and activities to complete advanced technology construction.
  • Review and process critical construction documents before construction to avoid design changes and cost impacts and maintain the quality of the project using ACC Build, Procore and Bluebeam Studio.
  • Conduct and document safety inspections, implement safety programs, coordinate high risk activities and conduct safety trainings using HammerTech software.
  • Plan and schedule construction activities, procure materials and equipments in time and within budget by continuous coordination, and control project schedule using Primavera P6, BIM360 Plan, and DPR Project Scheduler.
  • Control and maintain project cost, price additional scope of work, Review and process subcontractor pricing, Change Order management with owner using CMiC.
  • Project Quality control, create Definable features of work for project, identify quality defects and getting those fixed, lead quality walks with design team and owner to highlight quality focus items, lead punchlist walks and get issues addressed using Procore and ACC Build.
  • Collaborate, lead, and control design coordination activities with design team and owner using ACC Build and Bluebeam Studio.
