Our Rolls-Royce Submarines Project Management Teams are seeking outstanding candidates across a range of Project Delivery and Project Controls roles. Our customers are reliant on us to deliver our projects on time, with the desired outcomes and within set budgets. In any of these positions, you will be instrumental in helping to make sure we both meet and exceed their expectations. These roles are challenging staff graded positions that will be focused upon the leadership and delivery of projects.

What you will be doing:

Your role will be based at one of our nuclear focussed locations in Derby. These positions will play a vital role in ensuring we deliver our commitment to our customers and help to shape the future of our nuclear technologies.

  • Support the project team in delivering requirements ensuring that the overall project outputs are met.
  • Support project submissions for the forecasting/budget process.
  • Support project/contract reviews and produce reports/review packs.
  • Facilitate and coordinate Risk and Opportunity assessment activities.
  • Support the project teams with the processes, governance, and maintenance of project data and develop / implement Project Management best practice effectively and efficiently in line with company management processes.

The Project Management Function not only scans the global horizon for recognised and benchmarked best practice, but it also continually challenges the norms and works internally and externally to influence and set the Project Management and Project Controls standards used within the UK Submarines Enterprise

Position Qualifications:  

  • A degree or equivalent experience in Project Management, Economics or STEM-related subject.
  • Our business works to APM: Association for Project Management standards and processes. As such currently holding or working towards a PMQ, MAPM or ChPP, qualification (or equivalent project management qualification) is advantageous.  
  • Knowledge of Project Management areas such as planning, scheduling, project controls, new product introduction, Risk management, cost and estimating.
  • We work in a complex project landscape. Experience of successfully working within a project team or cross / multi-disciplined delivery teams where you have interacted with a range of internal and external stakeholders is desirable.
  • Experience of handling, collating, and presenting data using appropriate tools.
  • The ability to take an open-minded, curious and collaborative approach to project delivery that challenges us to deliver excellence and efficiency every day.

For more than 60 years Rolls-Royce Submarines has designed, supplied and supported the nuclear propulsion plant, providing power for all UK Royal Navy nuclear submarines. 

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines an individual must hold a Security Check clearance. We will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t already have it. Due to the nature of work we conduct, we can only progress applications from individuals who are a UK national or, in MoD approved cases, a dual national.
