Position Summary

A career in Finance Project Management within the Accounting group will provide the opportunity to develop and oversee a variety of projects. This role requires an excellent balance of financial expertise and organization skills, as well as the ability to set schedules and drive team member performance.

Roles within Accounting are responsible for all accounting and financial reporting activities: including accounts payable, billing, inventory valuation, inventory control, budgeting and tax accounting. The Controller also manages their company’s financial and administrative functions in a manner consistent with generally accepted accounting principles and SJI policies & procedure.

Essential Functions:

  • Independently planning and executing wider array of tasks that support non-routine activities and project goals

  • Selecting appropriate methods and techniques in performing tasks

  • Collaborating with supervisory personnel to develop methods and demonstrating strong level of understanding project goals and methods

  • Maintaining familiarity with processes and structures and applying appropriately to various projects

  • Leading group meetings. Presenting results of work, interpreting data, and drawing conclusions regarding presented material and nature of work

  • Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.

  • It is expected that you will exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Network with key contacts outside own area of expertise.

  • The role assists in project design that will enable the department/ group/team to meet goals.

  • You will impact cross-functional project teams.

  • Additionally, it is expected that you will make decisions that impact the company’s ability to achieve short-term timelines.

  • You will determine methods and procedures on new assignments.

  • Managing the strategic and tactical operations of our renewable natural gas portfolio, including but not limited to tax credits

  • Work with outside consultants on various projects, including determining eligibility for various tax credits as renewable natural gas projects are constructed and are placed into service, and constructing cost segregation reports

  • Coordinate efforts with regard to contract initiation for various projects that pertain to our renewables portfolio

  • Work closely with general and tax accounting on rules, calculations, reconciliations, etc. that specifically pertain to ITC, PTC, PWA and other initiatives.

  •   Work closely with financial planning and strategic finance on building and iterating on complex financial models that will enable effective decision making regarding the company’s revenue growth strategy, cost structure, and capital expenditures

  • Effectively cascading functional strategy and contributing to development of organizational policies

Qualifications

Required Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or;
  • Master’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

    Compensation Range:

    $111,000 - 177,600

    We are committed to pay transparency and ensuring equitability compensation for all employees. The pay range for this position reflects the base salary only and does not include benefits, bonuses, or other forms of compensation that might be part of the total compensation package. The specific salary offered will be based on a candidate’s qualifications, education, and experience.
