The Project Management Lead for Corporate Accounting and Tax Operations will support and coordinate cross-functional initiatives within the Tax organization and the broader Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) organization. This role will drive progress across key initiatives such as R&D tax credits, state income tax restructuring, energy tax credits, intercompany governance, and finance system modernizations - while ensuring visibility, alignment, and timely reporting to senior leadership, including the CAO and CFO.
This position is ideal for candidates who bring project leadership experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to navigate a matrixed environment. The Project Management Lead will partner closely with teams across Tax, Controllership, FP&A, Legal, Technical Accounting, Human Resources, IT, and external advisors.
Responsibilities
- Lead planning, scheduling, and execution of multiple concurrent cross-functional tax and accounting projects.
- Facilitate project meetings, develop and maintain project plans, track action items and milestones while ensuring timely follow‑through across workstreams.
- Drive alignment across stakeholder groups on project requirements, deliverables, dependencies, and timelines.
- Promote consistent documentation, transparency, and communication across finance functions.
- Prepare progress updates, scorecards, dashboards, and leadership reporting for the CAO and CFO.
- Consolidate project status summaries, risk assessments, and KPI tracking across workstreams.
- Support project governance frameworks and maintain documentation to support audit readiness.
- Identify risks and help drive mitigation strategies related to tax and accounting operational projects and technology deployments.
- Support initiatives to standardize, streamline, and improve processes across Tax and Controllership.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, project management, or related field.
- 5+ years of relevant project management, PMO, or operations experience—aligned with a Manager/Lead‑level role.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including experience preparing executive-level updates.
- Experience with project and delivery management tools.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across diverse functional areas and influence without direct authority.
- Experience delivering finance and accounting initiatives
- Experience within Tax, Accounting, Controllership, or broader Finance functions.
- Familiarity with R&D tax credits, transfer pricing, IRA energy credit requirements, and tax planning processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with tax technology tools (e.g., OneSource, Alteryx, Vertex, Avalara, Oracle).
- PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent project management training.
Additional Information
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

Pay Range
The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
$115,200 - $158,400 per year
This job is eligible for a bonus incentive plan. This incentive opportunity is based upon company and/or individual performance.
