Job Description:

The opportunity:
As a Project Engineer specializing in Power Quality Solutions at Hitachi Energy Technology Services, you will be responsible for the technical execution and successful delivery of power quality improvement projects. This includes everything from initial design and specification to commissioning and client support, ensuring optimal performance and reliability of our cutting-edge solutions.

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Technical Project Management: Lead and manage the technical aspects of power quality projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budget, and quality standards.

  • Solution Design & Engineering: Develop detailed engineering designs, specifications, and bill of materials for power quality solutions, including active harmonic filters, STATCOMs, surge protection devices, and power factor correction equipment.

  • System Integration: Oversee the integration of power quality equipment with existing electrical infrastructure, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders.

  • Testing & Commissioning: Plan, execute, and document factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for power quality solutions, ensuring proper functionality and performance.

  • Technical Support & Troubleshooting: Provide expert technical support to customers during installation, commissioning, and operation, troubleshooting complex power quality issues and proposing effective solutions.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare comprehensive technical documentation, including engineering drawings, operational manuals, test reports, and project progress reports.

  • Client Interaction: Act as a key technical point of contact for clients, presenting technical solutions, addressing inquiries, and ensuring customer satisfaction.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with sales, R&D, manufacturing, and service teams to ensure seamless project execution and continuous improvement of power quality offerings.

  • Industry Standards & Regulations: Stay abreast of the latest industry standards, codes, and regulations related to power quality and electrical systems.

  • Risk Assessment: Identify potential technical risks within projects and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Compliance: Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a closely related field. A Master's degree is a plus.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a project engineering role with a strong focus on power quality solutions, electrical systems, or industrial automation.

  • In-depth knowledge of power quality phenomena (harmonics, sags, swells, flicker, unbalance) and their impact on electrical systems.

  • Proven experience with power quality analysis tools and software (e.g., power quality analyzers, PSCAD, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory). Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and independently.

  • Familiarity with active harmonic filters, STATCOMs, power factor correction equipment, and other power quality mitigation technologies.

  • Understanding of industrial control systems, PLCs, and SCADA is an advantage. Proficiency in interpreting electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple technical projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN).

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous attention to detail.

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required for project meetings, site visits, commissioning, and client support.

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
