The Greater Ravensworth Area Water & Tailings Strategy
The Regional Water and Tailings department (GRAWTS) manages the integrated water and tailings systems that support Glencore’s coal operations across the Greater Ravensworth Area in the Hunter Valley. Multiple sites are connected by a dedicated network of water and tailings pipelines where the GRAWTS department helps to coordinate the system’s centralised monitoring, maintenance and infrastructure development to ensure safe, compliant tailings handling and efficient water usage for the business.
We are seeking a fixed-term Project Engineer, through to mid-2027, to assist in the overall planning, execution, delivery, and closure of the GRAWTS 2.0 project. Supporting the Project Coordinator and working a Monday to Friday day shift roster, this role assists in the execution of the project to ensure it is delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
This role is diverse in nature where you will be responsible for the management of resources, addressing risks, and engaging with stakeholders within the Greater Ravensworth Area, working across Glencore’s MGO, Ravensworth and Liddell Operations.
The requirements for success in this role:
Assist in the planning and oversight for the execution of efficient project activities within the GRAWTS water and tailings pipeline and infrastructure network. This includes the approval, design, preparation of scopes and specifications, tendering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover to operations.
Demonstrate HSEC leadership by completing and implementing project work in line with the ‘No Plan No Work’ framework.
Assist in the budget coordination, procurement and execution of the project within defined timeframes and budget limitations.
Participate in project risk assessments and implement controls that are consistent with our standards, procedures and environmental licences.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external project stakeholders.

You are a driven project engineer (or aspiring) with a strong output and efficiency focus who thrives on delivering results. You bring solid engineering fundamentals, hands-on problem solving and a bias for action, and you are seeking development in project management through involvement in a dynamic, business‑critical project. Committed to continuous improvement, safety and operational excellence, you enjoy working in fast-paced environments where your initiative directly improves outcomes.
The required skills include:
Relevant qualifications / experience in project management and/or trade/engineering (desirable).
Strong safety focus and commitment to GCAA ‘No Plan No Work’ framework.
Excellent interpersonal, cooperative and facilitation skills as part of interfacing with various levels of management and external bodies and agencies.
Personal and contractor schedule management.
Knowledge of quality assurance in construction.
Understanding of cost drivers in construction projects with knowledge of commercial and procurement processes.
Respect the values and diversity of others and uphold the company values.
Manage and build positive relationships with all stakeholders.
Ability to approach and consider tactical tasks with a strategic perspective.
Problem solving ability coupled with motivation and drive.
