What You’ll Be Doing

As the Project Director, you will be responsible for delivering on the project/program portfolio for Enterprise Risk Management while other initiatives may be added as required to meet business objectives, ensuring alignment with CIBC’s business strategy and regulatory requirements.

This role is accountable for leading and delivering successful projects and programs by applying established project management best practices, governance, and standardized delivery processes. The position champions a high-performance culture, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and ensures all initiatives support CIBC’s and Enterprise Risk Management business priorities and regulatory requirements.

As an individual contributor and leader, you will demonstrate a proven track record of results through strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to build consensus and manage conflicting viewpoints through effective negotiation and influencing. Experience with both waterfall and agile delivery methodologies is essential, as you will be expected to lead projects in a fast-paced environment.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role.You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Collaboration & Leadership: The candidate will lead cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and adapting effectively to evolving and ambiguous environments. By facilitating team discussions and coordinating changes, they will drive the team toward shared objectives and maintain high performance, even as priorities shift.

  • Communication: With strong communication skills, the candidate will engage stakeholders, end-users, and team members, presenting complex information in a clear and concise manner. They will provide regular updates on project status, risks, and outcomes to all levels of management, ensuring transparency and alignment.

  • Relationship Management: The candidate will build and maintain productive relationships with business, technology partners, and external vendors. Their ability to translate detailed requirements into actionable business language and coordinate efforts across functions and business units will support smooth project execution.

  • Innovation & Process Improvement: By delivering innovative solutions and simplifying complex processes, the candidate will enhance user experience and improve delivery efficiency. They will champion best practices and continuous improvement, driving operational excellence across all project activities.

  • Project Management: The candidate will provide leadership throughout all phases of project and program delivery, ensure strategic alignment and optimal resource utilization. They will monitor performance, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to established governance frameworks for successful outcomes.
