Scope of Position
The Project Development Engineer is responsible for the up-front development of water conservation projects, working collaboratively with internal teams and customers to identify, evaluate, and define technically sound and financially viable solutions. This role supports the full pre-implementation phase from initial audits through the construction handoff, as well as construction support.
The position audits facilities and develops multiple projects concurrently, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with customer goals, company standards, and regulatory requirements.
This position reports to the Director of Engineering.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities
Perform preliminary and detailed facility studies/energy audits to identify energy conservation opportunities, facility needs, and potential facility improvements.
Analyze utility rate structures, consumption/demand histories, condition, and operation of existing building systems.
Perform water and operational savings calculations.
Propose efficiency-saving solutions with accurate cost estimates.
Design energy conservation measures and building systems upgrades.
Provide support and technical assistance to team members in both the pre- and post-contract phases.
Collaborate with the Business Development Manager in the identification and qualification of potential projects and to cultivate relationships with the client to identify needs and propose effective and integrated solutions.
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in mechanical, electrical, civil, or related technical environments
Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, with a preference for Mechanical Engineering (BSME); candidates with a construction management or other strong technical degree will also be considered
Must reside near, or be willing to relocate to, the Central Florida area upon hire.
Travel required. This is an office position, with travel (20-35%) to project locations.
Able to pass government Federal and state security clearances and drug screening.
Ability to analyze and quantify both water and energy savings and implement complex projects.
Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication and technical skills.
Proficient in MMS Office, particularly Excel, MS Project, and Adobe.
Preferred Qualifications
Plumbing or electrical trade experience.
Experience managing construction in secure correctional or government environments.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.

Working Conditions:
While performing the job duties, you will be working in the office in Oviedo, FL, and the field. Your scheduled core hours are Monday through Friday and will be communicated by your manager.
Physical Requirements: Specific physical abilities required for this position include, but are not limited to:
Ability to operate standard office and field equipment.
Ability to stand and walk for long periods on active job sites.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Ability to physically maneuver through construction environments. With a full range of bodily motion.
Ability to read documents and communicate clearly with management, field staff, customers, and subcontractors. And present information in group settings.
Ability to wear required PPE, including a hard hat, safety vest, safety shoes, hearing protection, and safety glasses.
