Project Coordinator - SRM Livelihood

Key Responsibilities:

Reports to: Programme Manager - WFP

Key Result Areas:

Effective Project Implementation and sustainability 

  • Take lead in project planning, budgeting, and implementation and monitoring of progress in line with donor requirements.
  • Develop annual and quarterly project work plans and oversee implementation to high standards by scope and timelines
  • Ensure core project models and approaches are implemented according to schedule and minimum standards.
  • Develop farmer’s capacity to improve production and productivity of selected enterprises of desired quality by the market through demonstrations to farmer’s
  • Provide business support and training to project participants on income generating activities, market analysis and understanding specific value chains
  • Support the graduation of enterprises from grant to commercial finance.
  • Identify and engage with strategic partners for business development in the area of micro-enterprise, self-help group and cooperative development and support.
  • Developing business plans for income generating activities (IGA) businesses and provide mentorship and coaching for various business groups for sustainable livelihoods
  • Market linkage, networking, collaboration and mentorship
  • Find market for products of project participants including employment for skilled youth/women
  • Deliver technical trainings including, agronomy, financial literacy, saving for transformation, business to project participants and entrepreneurs
  • Support project participants and their groups to improve productivity, added value, quality and volume for market-led livelihood activities.
  • Effectively implement the project to create new opportunities for acquisition, retention and transformation of diverse set of private and governmental donors.

Leadership and People Management

  • Provide effective human resource management for all staff and volunteers under the project.
  • Ensure all project staff are recruited, oriented, have valid contracts, performance agreements and project documents.
  • Hold monthly meetings and quarterly performance review meetings with team members.
  • Establish consultative and participative management environment that engages and develops project teams, to deliver on donor obligations hence meeting project commitment priorities.
  • Manage, supervise and build capacity of staff in project development, management and implementation especially in humanitarian emergency response.
  • Identify staff capacity, psychosocial and other needs, and work with P&C to ensure needs are met
  • Facilitate coaching, mentoring and counseling sessions for staff within the project.

Financial Management & Compliance

  • Responsible for financial cash flow planning and expenditure monitoring, approval of expenditures and related cost allocations, on the basis of approved project budgets.
  • Ensure project quality adherence, contractual compliance and timely reporting.
  • In collaboration with the Grants Accountant, ensure responsibility for project expenditure, financial accountability and planning requirements, and provide a high level of support to project processes and procedures.
  • Monitor the overall financial integrity of project funds through grant management, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Provide capacity building to project staff to strengthen the organizational practices that result in successful financial and operational audit scores and take lead in the implementation of audit recommendations as per the findings.

Networking, Coordination and Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Network and collaborate with District, UNHCR, WFP, OPM, local government and other relevant stakeholders in the Project Area
  • Maintaining effective coordination and working relations with donor and other relevant stakeholders at field level
  • Actively represent World Vision and project in coordination structures.
  • Share progress and update on project activities to donor and relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the dissemination and sharing of best practices and lessons learned for corporate development planning and knowledge building.
  • Ensure all project-based needs and requirements are timely and efficiently shared with stakeholders for best coordinated implementation.
  • Maintain close liaison on programmatic issues with donor beyond contractual reporting requirements.

Documentation, Reporting and Knowledge Management

  • Compile and submit quality progress reports, monthly, quarterly and end of project reports and submits them to programs for onward submission to the donor
  • Coordinate regular reviews and reflections on progress of the project at the districts and regional levels.
  • Ensure project work plans are effectively implemented, monitored and progress reports shared including effective budget management.  
  • Contribute to the development of project related documents such as success stories and publications.
  • Contribute to development and introduction of innovation to ensure World Vision is continually incorporating best practice approaches in operations.
  • Facilitate documentation of stories and media materials with children interest related to World Vision policies and liaise with concerned units for broader coverage (digital and printed, media).

Child Protection, gender and Disability inclusion

  • Ensure inclusion and participation of vulnerable groups in project activities
  • Liaise with WV experts to provide proficient advice on gender, protection and disability inclusion in the project.
  • Monitor wellbeing and child abuse cases and report any incidents in line with child protection policy and guidelines.
  • Work with local leaders to protect children from child violations and abuses
  • Sensitize guardians/parents including most vulnerable children and other stakeholders about children’s rights and responsibilities.
  • Any other business as assigned by supervisor including participation in key committees and task forces.

Minimum education, training and experience requirements for the position:

  • Minimum of Bachelors in Agriculture or Agribusiness/Agricultural economics or Forestry or Development Studies or any other relevant discipline. Experience in community work and engagement Agricultural, Economic Development and Livelihood is and added advantage. Climate Smart Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, micro finance and strong agribusiness skills.
  • At least three years’ experience working with vulnerable communities and familiarity with humanitarian programming and implementation.
  • Experience with relevant technical models such as Village Savings & Loans, FMNR, Local Value Chain Development and Transition Model.
  • Experience in Monitoring & Evaluation.
  • Capacity/potential in leadership, relationship management/networking, and coordination.
  • Good interpersonal skills, strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proven conceptual & analytical skills, ability to take an evidence-based approach to programme design. 
  • Minimum of 5-years professional work experience in project management, Livelihoods and microfinance enterprise development. 
  • Experience of data collection, collation, analysis, and report writing.
  • Professional, motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, flexible and, culturally sensitive.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and analytical skills, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Excellent computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Excel, spreadsheets.
  • Track record demonstrating high integrity, innovativeness, creativity, reliability and dependable.
  • Ability to drive a motorcycle with valid driving/riding license.
  • Ensure a gender perspective in the scope of work and passion for children.
  • Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
  • Possess the ability to work with different partners, local authorities, local organizations and NGOs, to develop and maintain positive relationships.
