What can you expect?

As the Project Controls Specialist II, you will be responsible for assisting with all aspects of technical and administration functions to ensure efficient and effective project operations. Personal initiative and critical thinking skills are essential to complete job duties with minimal guidance.  Assignments are deadline driven so you must be able to set priorities, take ownership of projects, work efficiently, and provide a consistent level of high-quality work product in a high-pressure environment. You will report to the Project Controls Manager and provide support to the Director of Finance, Contract Manager and Project Managers as needed.

How will you do it?

  • Manages foreign work calendar for Wake DBA insurance estimates and reconciliations.
  • Create and modify project cost estimate, receivable invoices, and cost tracking templates.
  • Create monthly client invoice package templates and assist PMs in creation of invoice and communication with Calista accounting.
  • Ensure projects are executed timely and within budget by applying project controls system to track costs and percent complete.
  • Communicate project cost status, track contract changes with project team on regular basis.
  • Ensure subcontract/vendor invoices are coded properly and compared/tracked against subcontracts or purchase orders.
  • Responsible for the management and maintenance of the customer invoicing files including maintaining electronic filing for all billing related documents.
  • Responsible for monthly Estimate at Completion (EAC) process in support of Project Managers.
  • Track commitments and accrued costs on multiple projects.
  • Weekly cost variance reporting for Cost+ projects.
  • Update and analyze project schedules.
  • Assist in writing client status reports.
  • Assist PMs in ordering and expediting field supplies.
  • Prepare correspondence as needed.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to work on a team with other construction professionals toward common goals.
  • Focus on and prioritize tasks.
  • Knowledge of job costing and accounting procedures preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer-based construction and scheduling programs preferred.
  • Ability to professionally and effectively communicate with employees, business partners, and clients via written and verbal communication methods.
  • Ability to work independently and work cooperatively with others; ability to work with employees, business partners, and customers in a friendly and positive manner.
  • Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions based on available information. Ability to use judgment and discretion.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and effectively plan and organize duties to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work with concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Ability to participate in and facilitate group meetings.
  • Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. 
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.   
  • Ability to interpret and communicate project plans and drawings.
  • Should have adequate knowledge of database software, spreadsheet software, scheduling software, job costing software and word processing software.  Microsoft packages preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibilities

Who is Brice Environmental Services looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business-related degree, or minimum of five to ten years of experience in related field.
  • Experience with accounting and job costing required.
  • Strong experience in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project.
  • Knowledge of construction industry vocabulary and terms.
  • Valid state driver’s license and qualified to operate a vehicle under the conditions of the Brice Environmental’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screenings.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Brice Environmental Services has a fast-paced multi-tasking office environment requiring a high degree of efficient and effective performance.  At times, work is performed outside of the office at indoor and outdoor job sites.  Adaptability regarding schedule and design changes, and occasional overtime for immediate field support or bid processing may be necessary.
