Position Summary
The Project and Program Manager is a key member of the (CDS) editorial and operational team. This role ensures the clarity, consistency, and editorial quality of CDS content across workflow‑integrated tools and standalone products (including UpToDate Pathways).
In addition to content‑editing responsibilities, the Product and Program Manager supports internal project coordination, documentation, scheduling, tracking, stakeholder communication, and risk mitigation. The position plays an essential role in supporting project execution, maintaining documentation standards, and ensuring alignment with established processes.
The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, organized, adaptable, and eager to contribute to evolving editorial workflows, authoring platforms, and AI‑enabled automation. This role offers ongoing opportunities for growth as CDS processes, tooling, and programs expand.
Key Responsibilities
Content Editing & Quality Assurance
- Proofread, standardize, and format CDS content to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to editorial standards.
- Carefully review content across similar decision paths, paying close attention to intentional, subtle differences to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Maintain and evolve a CDS-specific editorial style guide aligned with (but distinct from) the core UpToDate style guide.
- Ensure that content is structured appropriately for end-user experience in both workflow-integrated and standalone tools.
Workflow Coordination & Editorial Support
- Serve as a central communication point between Advanced CDS Deputy Editors, specialty editors, and external contributors.
- Contribute to workflow coordination, helping maintain momentum on projects and ensuring deadlines are met
- Assist with coordinating editorial meetings and managing small administrative tasks as needed, such as onboarding new contractors (not a major component of the role).
- Facilitate communication among project and editorial stakeholders.
- Coordinate meetings and prepare meeting agendas.
Project Support & Program Management Responsibilities
- Support project planning and development of schedules.
- Track and report project progress.
- Maintain detailed project documentation.
- Support the identification and mitigation of project risks.
- Assist with change management processes.
- Ensure compliance with project processes and standards.
- Provide support in preparing project proposals and reports.
- Support resource coordination and internal project communication.
Platform & Tooling Support
- Work with proprietary decision‑tree authoring software to review content, apply styling, and provide editorial feedback.
- Report bugs or workflow issues, collaborate with engineering teams, and validate the resolution of issues.
- Participate in platform enhancements, including prompt design, automation approaches, and AI‑assisted content review.
Process Improvement & Innovation
- Contribute to the design and refinement of new editorial procedures aimed at improving quality and scalability.
- Participate in projects exploring new content‑creation methods, including the use of AI to support automation and efficiency.
- Maintain updates to Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to support team alignment and progress evaluation.
Team Growth & Future Leadership Opportunities
- May participate in mentorship, oversight, or coordination of additional team members as the CDS program grows.
- Engage in opportunities to expand responsibilities in editorial, project management, and platform‑related domains.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a field requiring strong writing, editing, or analytical skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high editorial standards.
- Ability to recognize subtle differences in similar clinical content and ensure consistent application of style and terminology.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fast-moving environment.
- Comfort working with specialized software tools and willingness to learn new systems quickly.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in medical, scientific, or technical editing.
- Familiarity with clinical content, medical terminology, or healthcare workflows.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams (e.g., engineering, product, informatics).
- Exposure to content management systems, structured content, or decision-tree formats.
- Interest in AI tools, digital content workflows, or process optimization.

Compensation:
$57,400.00 - $98,350.00 USD
This role is eligible for Bonus.
Compensation range listed is based on primary location of the position. Actual base salary offer is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skills, experience and actual hiring location.
