Position Summary:
- Provide engineering support across maintenance and capital projects to ensure reliable, safe, and compliant manufacturing operations.
- Lead and execute equipment reliability, preventive maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage and deliver capital projects (CAPEX) including installation, upgrade, and validation of equipment.
- Drive improvements across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Equipment Reliability.
Key Responsibilities / Authorities:
- Lead and execute capital projects including line upgrades, automation improvements.
- Manage full project lifecycle: scope definition, budget control, timeline delivery, contractor management.
- Support equipment qualification and validation (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Support new product introduction (NPI), including process design, trials, and scale-up.
- Lead troubleshooting of equipment failures and implement root cause analysis.
- Monitor production KPIs (efficiency, yield, downtime, scrap) and recommend improvement actions.
- Work closely with Production to maintain equipment uptime (OEE impact) and minimise downtime and improve operational efficiency.
- Respond to breakdowns (corrective maintenance) and restore operations quickly.
- Support production scheduling by ensuring equipment readiness, process capability, and resource optimisation.
- Analyse production processes and identify opportunities for efficiency improvement, waste reduction, and cost optimisation.
- Develop, optimise and perform preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Manage critical spare parts stock levels, reduce excess inventory while avoiding stockouts.
- Develop and maintain: SOPs, Maintenance procedures, technical documentation.
- Lead CIP / Lean / Kaizen initiatives.
- Ensure all activities comply with Work Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
- Identify hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement corrective actions.
- Drive sustainability initiatives including waste reduction and resource efficiency.
- Provide technical training and guidance to production staff.
- Any other tasks as directed by manager.
Description of Qualification, Key Skills, Personal Attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related).
- 3–4 years’ experience in maintenance engineering, Project engineering
- Strong knowledge of: Industrial equipment (automation, pneumatics, conveyors, pumps, valves, sensors), experience in CAPEX project management
- Preferred: good understanding of GMP / validation requirements, Risk management tools (FMEA, RCA, 5 Whys)
- Preferred: experience with Lean / Six Sigma (preferred)
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- High attention to detail and strong organisational capability
