We have an exciting opportunity for a Programme Manager to join Rolls-Royce Submarines

As a Programme Manager, you be responsible for the planning, delegation, monitoring and control of all aspects of assigned projects/programme, and the motivation of those involved, to achieve the projects/programme objectives / output with the expected performance targets of time, cost, quality, scope and risks.

Your needs are as unique as you are.  Hybrid working is a way in which our people can balance their time between the office, home or another remote location.  It’s a locally managed and flexed informal discretionary arrangement.  As a minimum we’re all expected to attend the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons, on average three days per week.

What you’ll be doing:

You will be accountable to successful delivery to cost, quality, time and scope for defined projects/programme.

  • Secure and manage the provision of resources needed from internal and/or external providers.
  • Manage an integrated set of plans / schedules, ensuring all aspects of lower level control accounts are understood and agreed.
  • Develop and secure budgets for the projects/programme and monitor/control the forecast and actual costs against the allocated budget
  • Establish, develop and maintain the documentation necessary to deliver the project/programme.           
  • Act as the focal point and escalation route for all aspects related to the project/programme.
  • Provide timely information i.e. monthly reporting pack, to senior stakeholders to allow management decisions to be made
  • Identify, address and resolve differences between individuals and / or interest groups.
  • Organize and chair project/programme review meetings and report areas where executive decisions need to be made.   
  • Ensure the implementation of company management processes are effective & efficient and implement Project Management best practice in line with company management processes.   
  • Provide guidance to others regarding the Project Management processes and the operation of the project management systems / tools / methods.     
  • Contribute to the local Project Management Community of Practice.              
  • Lead a project/programme team including setting up, developing and evaluating team performance as appropriate.                                                                                                 

Who we are looking for:

  • Qualified to degree level or equivalent industry experience.
  • Can clearly demonstrate previous expereience and how it has influenced project/programme/portfolio outcome/delivery.                                         
  • Attained APM Project Management Qualification or can demonstrate equivalent PM knowledge
  • Ideally a member of a professional body i.e.Association of Project Management MAPM / FAPM and working towards a Chartered Qualification i.e. ChPP.                       
  • Vast experience in management of projects / programmes / portfolios.
  • Strong people management and interpersonal skills, including experience in providing structured coaching and personal development of others.                    
  • Experience of setting up and managing multi-functional teams.                             
  • Ideally has exposure to non-core project management roles such as manufacturing, planning & control, purchasing, commercial, engineering management etc.     
  • Comprehensive understanding and experience of project management and project controls practices, including schedule, risk, performance and financial management; desirably on complex projects in a production/manufacturing environment.     
  • Sound knowledge of project management systems such as SAP, Primavera P6 and how these integrate.

To work for Rolls-Royce Submarines you need to hold a Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance.  Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you don’t currently already have this in place.
