Job Summary: The Program Support Assistant (OA) of the Emergency Department Service is organizationally located within the Chief of Staff's office and provides coordination of patient arid communication flow between inpatient units, Non-VA facilities, providers, and ancillary services within the Memphis VA Medical Center. The workload is highly unpredictable and the incumbent must be flexible and adaptive to remain responsive to!multiple demands made by internal and external sources.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Applies the process of discovery that involves the diagnosis of a problem or issue, identification and gathering of relevant information, formulation and evaluation of alternative solutions or courses of action, and selection or recommendation of the preferred solution or course of action. Knows how social, political, organizational, and technological systems work and operates effectively within them. This includes the policies, procedures, rules and regulations of the work unit or organization.
