Job Summary: The primary purpose of the position is to serve as a Program Support Assistant (PSA) in the Environmental Management Service (EMS) at the Cincinnati VA Hospital. The employee will provide administrative and clerical support to the Chief, Assistant Chief, EMS Administrative Officer, supervisors, and staff.

Major Duties:

Major Duties: Timekeeper for all of EMS Utilizing various information technology (IT) formats and computer applications, Planning and coordinating a variety of general office support services, such as requisition, purchase, storage, and maintenance of stock levels, installation, repair, maintenance and disposal of office equipment, preparation of UPS packages, completing media duplication requests, etc. Data collection and management Establishing and maintaining databases Assisting with preparation and presentations for meetings and functions, Supports Service functions in the execution of Fiscal Year End activities in financial management functions, Provide tracking information and assists management and program managers in the budget Scheduling ergonomics assessments and distributing the equipment. Purchasing equipment, maintaining contracts. Performing regional and local trend analysis and other related studies Other related tasks as assigned. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 3:30pm or 8:00am -4:30pm Position Description Title/PD#: Program Support Assistant/PD917970 Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary. Physical demands do not exceed those of a typical office setting. There may be some walking, standing, bending or carrying of light items.

Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement. GS-06 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes: Knowledge of medical center programs, policies, objectives, and procedures to perform assignments such as: reviewing incoming and outgoing correspondence and taking appropriate follow-up action, anticipating and preparing materials and correspondence; Ability to coordinate work, including advising and instructing on new procedures or regulations and information to be provided for use in reports; Knowledge of office management policies, regulations and procedures concerning such administrative matters as correspondence preparation and control, office automation systems, and files maintenance; Knowledge of legal, scientific, and technical terminology used in various medical center programs; Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, punctuation and required formats to type, proofread, and correct documents consistent with requirements for style and content; Skill in operating personal computers and ability to use various software programs such as: word processing, and office equipment such as fax machines, and copiers; Experience maintaining spreadsheets, utilizing email programs, and presentation software. Preferred Experience: Demonstrated customer service skills, proficiency with computer applications, experience in creating presentations, and drafting professional responses across various mediums, including email, written correspondence, phone, and TEAMS.
