Job Description Summary:

The Program Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the School of Nursing’s online BSN programs, including the Community College Nursing Partnership and RN-to-BSN tracks. This role is responsible for expanding access to nursing education through strong partnerships with community colleges and healthcare organizations, while ensuring students receive high-quality support and advising. The position will lead efforts to develop new academic pathways, such as an LPN-to-BSN track, and manage recruitment, admissions, and program coordination. It serves as a key driver of innovation and growth in response to evolving workforce needs and increasing enrollment demands.

Job Description:

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Program Strategy and Development – 35%

  • Lead strategic planning and oversight for online BSN programs (CCNP and RN-to-BSN), including development of reporting dashboards and metrics.

  • Chair the CCNP/RN-to-BSN Steering Committee, driving strategic planning and alignment with state and institutional nursing workforce goals.

  • Develop a strategic approach to launch new academic pathways, including an LPN-to-BSN track within three-to-five years.

Partnerships and External Engagement – 20%

  • Represent SON on advisory boards, community college events, and strategic planning groups.

  • Partner with institutions through regular engagement and feedback collection.

Student Services and Support – 20%

  • Oversee recruitment, admissions, and onboarding processes for online BSN students

  • Provide academic advising and holistic support to a caseload of online BSN students

  • Lead onboarding and orientation efforts for new students in partnership with advising staff.

  • Maintain student records and communications, and resolve student issues in collaboration with faculty and staff.

  • Coordinate student progression and ensure timely interventions for academic success.

Staff Supervision – 10%

  • Supervise staff supporting online BSN programs

  • Develop organizational staffing plans and ensure that employees with the appropriate experience and skills are hired, onboarded, trained, supervised, have individual goals and development plans; Conducts annual performance evaluations and where necessary implement appropriate employee discipline.

  • Ensure area employees conduct activities in a professional and ethical manner, and in accordance with KUMC Policies and applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

  • Ensure all work performed by employees in the area is done in a safe and secure manner.

Operations and Data Management – 10%

  • Monitor enrollment trends and program capacity, coordinating with Academic Affairs to ensure adequate instructional staffing.

  • Manage and update articulation agreements and program documentation

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of program manuals and documentation in collaboration with the BSN Program Director.

  • Support marketing and outreach efforts to promote the online BSN pathways, ensuring alignment with SON’s mission, vision, and values.

Institutional Collaboration and Governance – 5%

  • Support SON-wide events and ceremonies, admission processes, and institutional committees

  • Direct coordination of area work with other areas of KUMC to ensure integration and support of KUMC goals and objectives.

  • May participate in relevant committees, task force, or other similar activities.

Required Qualifications

Work Experience:

  • 4 years of professional experience in admissions, recruitment, advising, or academic affairs with responsibility for project coordination and outcomes. Education may substitute for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Health or Higher Education Administration, Nursing, or a related field

Work Experience:

  • 2 years of experience working with community college and/or online academic programs

  • 1 year of supervisory experience

  • 1 year of experience with nursing education pathways or working in a nursing-related academic or professional setting.

  • 5 years of experience working in student affairs, advising, and admissions at a higher education institution.

  • Experience with Power BI

  • Experience with CRM software (e.g., Slate, Salesforce)

  • Experience with LMS (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard)

Compensation Statement:

The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
