A Glimpse of the Job

The Program Manager, under direction, plans, organizes, directs, and manages day-to-day activities, developing and implementing procedures for the administration of the Opera and Performing Arts Society (OPAS).

Essential Duties/Tasks

Operational & Administrative Management

  • Plans, organizes, directs, and manages day-to-day activities for the program

  • Develops and implements procedures for the administration of the program

  • Assists in developing strategic plans and goals to support the program

  • Assists with the development and production of materials designed for the program

  • Prepares reports and analyses for programs as requested by the director

  • Assists with the development and production of materials designed for the program

 

Donor and Sponsor Relations

  • Develops, cultivates and maintains relationships with subscribers, donors, and sponsors

  • Collaborates with the Texas A&M Foundation representative to identify, cultivate, and steward prospective OPAS endowment donors

  • Serves as staff liaison to the OPAS Board of Directors, assisting in the planning, development, and execution of strategies to secure donations and program sponsorships

  • Prepares and distributes sponsorship agreements and maintains sponsorship accounts receivables

 

Marketing & Communications

  • Serves as primary liaison between OPAS and contract marketing and promotion firm to cover interface with publicists for agencies and artists, public media and University Communications

  • Develops and maintains relationships with advertisers, vendors, media partners, and university constituents

  • Manages the sale of program and web banner advertising

  • Develops and coordinates group sales initiatives to expand audience reach and engagement

  • Prepares and distributes media partnership agreements

  • Maintains OPAS events on university events calendar

 

Event Coordination

  • Plans and manages setup, catering, and sponsorship solicitation for the OPAS VIP Donor Lounge

  • Plans and executes the Season Reveal Preview Party

  • Serves as the event coordinator for special functions related to donors, marketing, focus groups, and endowment recognition

 

Student Engagement

  • Serves as advisor to the OPAS Student Committee on recruitment, retention, marketing, promotions, development, public relations, and fundraising initiatives

 

What you need to know

Salary: $55,000-80,000 annually

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Five years of related experience in administration

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with event planning and execution, demonstrating strong attention to detail

  • Ability to connect and build relationships with sponsors, donors, season subscribers, advertisers, vendors, and university constituents

  • Knowledge and understanding of the arts and how participation in the arts enhances life and education

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with a wide range of customers and stakeholders. Skilled in adapting communication style to meet the needs of various audiences, ensuring clarity, professionalism, and positive engagement

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, problem solving, and organizational skills

  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
