Program Manager III Job Description
The Program Manager (PM) will lead the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives for the Howard University and PNC National Center for Entrepreneurship (“the Center”). The PM will specifically work with the Center’s National Associate & Regional Director (NARD) to manage programs that help alumni and those in the broader community start, scale, sell, and acquire business ventures. In this position, the PM will specifically assist the NARD in the developing of programmatic and curriculum structure, creating speaking and teaching opportunities for executive leaders, managing and establishing relationships across the University and in the community, creating program timelines, marketing program opportunities, and any other related duties to help the success of the Center. In addition, the PM will assist in measuring program outcomes, tracking quantitative and qualitative data to exhibit the impact of the Center.
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY: The Program Manager will assist the NARD to formally plan and coordinate programs that impact entrepreneurs in the community, along with scaling programmatic reach impact across the country.
NATURE AND SCOPE: The PM will be a University leader who will continue to drive the institution-wide culture of innovation and best practices. This leader will foster a vibrant work environment and be a trusted advisor and partner to the senior leadership team and the University community.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Design, plan, and execute accelerator, incubator, or other cohort-based programs for community ventures, along with workshops, speaker series, and pitch competitions
Develop and maintain a programmatic calendar
Evaluate program outcomes and monitor participant impact stories to inform strategic planning, fundraising, and marketing efforts
Connect entrepreneurs with funding opportunities, software, tools, mentorship, and other resources to help them in the development of their business ventures
Manage budgets, purchasing, and reporting for relevant center programs and events
Maintain program data, registration, and impact tracking systems
Manage content and communication with program participants through online learning management systems for relevant programs
Manage and support the development of an online community which connects program participants
Cultivate relationships with local businesses, alumni entrepreneurs, investors, sponsors and mentors
Coordinate guest speakers,webinars, industry panels, and networking events for community entrepreneur
Collaborate with other departments to promote cross-disciplinary engagement
Represent the Center at national and regional conferences and events, including campus and community events
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Experience in creating and/or managing entrepreneurship programming
Experience with academic institutions and/or entrepreneurship preferred
Skilled in data collection and analysis to measure programming outcomes
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious work relations with faculty, staff, community members, students and sponsors
Ability to multi-task efficiently
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree preferred and relevant experience in entrepreneurial program development/management required. 3+ years of experience in higher education, entrepreneurship, nonprofit leadership, or economic development
