We are searching for the new Assistant Director of the Study Abroad program who will be responsible for coordinating activities and functions of all learning abroad activities for undergraduate students to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the Center are accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications. This position aligns study abroad initiatives with the university’s goals and objectives while adhering to established priorities, funding constraints, and time limitations.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:
Pending budget approval, this position may supervise a study abroad advisor.
Will supervise student workers.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Internal contacts include administrators, faculty, staff and students both within the Center and University-wide. External contacts include program providers, vendors, visitors, officials and the public.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Providing strategic oversight over the study abroad program: eliminating underenrolled providers and adding providers to fill critical gaps (affordable internships, volunteer programs, Russian language)
Establishing program policies, procedures and processes, such as updating study abroad application systems, pre-departure requirements for study abroad participants
Developing and implementing pre-departure orientation and re-entry programming for study abroad participants, faculty led programs, faculty pre-departure training
Developing & maintaining course approval and program databases
Ensuring all study abroad programs have agreements and processing them with OGC
Managing study abroad social media output and designing promotional materials
Processing & submitting for payment, study abroad invoices
Course mapping with academic departments
Supporting faculty in their study abroad inquiries
Being the first point of contact and managing the response and support for student and program issues
Managing the study abroad portion of the Bunche Center website
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position
CORE COMPETENCIES:
Experience studying or working abroad preferred; proficiency in a second language is advantageous.
Knowledge of global current events, budgeting principles, and organizational practices.
Proficient in supervising and organizing work for self and others.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
Ability to work non-standard work schedule
Ability to travel periodically.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience (master’s degree preferred).
Familiarity with study abroad programming and international education.
Experience working with Terra Dotta.
Experience living, working, or studying abroad.
Experience with program management.
Knowledge of principles of student affairs and experience providing student support outside the classroom.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Compliance Salary Range Disclosure
Compensation Range: $75,000 - $85,000
