BDR THERMEA

Program Manager – Digital & Controls Platform

Apeldoorn - DU Full time

Lead the program that will shape the future of smart, connected heating solutions.

Your role

At BDR Thermea Group, a leading manufacturer and distributor of smart, sustainable indoor climate solutions, we are building the next generation of digital and controls technology that powers our heating and hot water solutions. To lead this journey, we are looking for a Program Manager to drive a strategic, multi-year platform program within our Digital & Controls (DaC) Development Unit.

You will lead Program Asgard, a strategic initiative to develop a unified embedded controls platform for our residential and commercial HVAC products. With this new platform we aim to reduce complexity, accelerate innovation, and enable modern connectivity features that seamlessly integrate appliances with digital services for installers and end users.

In this role, you will coordinate multiple cross-functional teams working on hardware, embedded software, connectivity, and digital platform integration. You will ensure alignment across development units, manage dependencies between platform and product teams, and help remove obstacles that could impact delivery.

Success in this role means creating clarity and momentum in a complex environment: connecting teams, aligning stakeholders, identifying risks early, and helping our organization deliver a scalable platform that will support our products for years to come.

This is a hybrid role based in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. You are invited to work from the office 2-3 days per week, collaborating closely with teams in Apeldoorn and occasionally traveling to our second development location, Mertzwiller (France).

Your key tasks

  • Lead the end-to-end coordination of Program Asgard, ensuring alignment between platform development and product implementation across residential and commercial solutions.

  • Create and maintain program roadmaps, timelines, and milestones, ensuring visibility and transparency for stakeholders.

  • Coordinate multiple cross-functional teams (hardware, embedded software, digital platforms and IoT connectivity) and manage dependencies across development units.

  • Identify program risks, technical uncertainties and organizational blockers, and drive mitigation strategies to keep the program on track.

  • Facilitate clear communication between product owners, architects, engineering teams and senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment around priorities and progress.

What you bring

  • 5+ years of experience in program or project management within complex technical environments (e.g., digital platforms, embedded systems, or connected products).

  • Experience coordinating multiple teams and stakeholders in a structured program or large-scale project environment, demonstrating strong organisational sensitivity in navigating stakeholder interests and internal company dynamics.

  • Strong planning and roadmap management skills, with the ability to translate strategy into clear milestones and deliverables.

  • Ability to combine system-level thinking with practical execution, balancing long-term vision with day-to-day coordination.

  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, LeSS) and the ability to operate effectively in environments where Agile and traditional project management coexist.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Software), or related field.

Nice to haves include

Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls technology, Embedded Software development, IoT integration, or working with Electronic Manufacturing Suppliers.
