The Program Manager, Cancer Care Innovation is responsible for managing tactical, operational, and strategic programs within the Cancer Innovation & Transformation Business Unit. This position manages initiatives that directly engage health systems, providers, pharmaceutical partners, technology partners, and other external partners to improve the cancer care experience, requiring a strong understanding of clinical trials, healthcare delivery, and the health system environment. This role offers an opportunity to oversee initiatives that improve the cancer care experience and contribute strategic insights to identify, launch, and scale programs with measurable impact. Reporting to the Director, Cancer Innovation & Transformation, this role will drive the development, launch, execution, and continuous improvement of care innovation programs, including the ACS ACTS clinical trials matching program with wraparound navigation services and other efforts that connect, personalize, and transform cancer care.
**This is a 100% remote role. Candidates can reside anywhere in the United States. Strong preference will be given to central and eastern time zone applicants**
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages the operations and execution of cancer care innovation programs, ensuring program milestones and deliverables are implemented on time, within scope, and to quality standards. Proactively identifies and resolves operational issues, bottlenecks, and dependencies to maintain momentum. (25%)
- Coordinates and leads collaboration with health systems, pharmaceutical and technology partners, internal partners, and other key stakeholders proactively, while serving as the primary point of contact for program questions and operational guidance. (15%)
- Plans, facilitates, and follows up on cross-functional meetings, including preparing agendas, documenting action items, tracking completion, and using project management tools (e.g., Monday.com, dashboards) to ensure accountability, visibility, and operational rigor. (15%)
- Creates, monitors, and manages program tracking and reporting systems, including dashboards, monthly and annual reports, and key metrics; analyzes findings and translates insights into actionable recommendations to support problem-solving, program improvements, and inform strategic planning. (15%)
- Facilitates cross-functional integration across ACS pillars, national and regional teams, and fundraising partners, ensuring programs are embedded in organizational operations, positioned for scale, and aligned with broader organizational objectives. (10%)
- Identifies, escalates, and mitigates program risks and operational barriers, applying proactive problem-solving, judgment, and continuous improvement practices to maintain program integrity and partner engagement. (10%)
- Oversees program budgets, contracts, vendor relationships, and other tasks as assigned, ensuring effective resource allocation, compliance, and accountability. (10%)
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor's Degree
- Preferred Degree: Master's Degree
- Certificate(s) or License(s): PMP Certification preferred
- Years of experience: Minimum 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience managing complex healthcare or research programs, including multi-stakeholder coordination, program delivery, and performance tracking. Experience in clinical trials, health systems, or cancer care strongly preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Knowledge of healthcare delivery systems, clinical trials, and cancer care environments, including understanding of health system operations, community health, implications of health policy, and multi-stakeholder program implementation.
- Strong program and project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously, develop and maintain tracking systems, monitor metrics, manage budgets/contracts, and ensure timely and high-quality program execution.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to independently engage internal and external partners, facilitate cross-functional meetings, develop clear agendas, capture action items, provide timely follow-up, and present program insights to leadership and stakeholders.
- Analytical and problem-solving ability, including the capacity to interpret program performance data, identify trends and risks, troubleshoot operational challenges, and translate findings into actionable recommendations for program improvements and strategic planning.
- Proactive and detail-oriented mindset, with strong organizational skills, operational insight, and the ability to anticipate issues, drive follow-through, and maintain accountability across programs and teams.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, balancing multiple priorities, adapting to change, and maintaining high standards of quality and compliance.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional travel may be required (generally no more than to 10–15%) may be required to visit partners or attend relevant conferences, meetings, or training events.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Primarily sedentary work involving extended computer use; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines; occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; ability to travel as necessary.
The starting rate is $84,000-$93,000. The final candidate's relevant experience/skills will be considered before an offer is extended. Actual starting pay will vary based on non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.
