Position Summary:

The Program Manager will manage customer projects at our Brisbane facility, ensuring smooth execution. Acting as the key liaison for customer projects, the Program Manager works closely with subject matter experts across our global network to produce exceptional outcomes. This position necessitates strategic oversight as well as hands-on involvement to accomplish high-quality results.

Key responsibilities:

  • Advance strategic initiatives from concept through commercialization, ensuring successful delivery of innovative products and solutions.
  • Guide project teams through our stage-gate Product Commercialization Process, managing scope, schedule, budget and risk while maintaining alignment with business objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels and foster collaboration across matrix organizations.
  • Support data-driven decisions, proactively identify and mitigate risks, and ensure compliance with quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain positive, mutually beneficial customer relationships
  • Supervise and deliver customer projects, managing both financial and contractual aspects
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure project success
  • Report progress against program scope and revenue targets and ensure program profitability through strict scope control
  • Effectively manage and communicate project challenges and risks to higher management

Complexity of the Job

The biopharmaceutical industry demands high safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Projects are of high value and often under tight timelines, requiring efficient and controlled execution to balance customer needs with Thermo Fisher's goals.

Frequent Contacts:

Internal

  • Lead cross functional customer project teams to deliver on program objectives
  • Collaborate with managers, supervisors, and various department employees
  • Work with finance, sales, and regulatory affairs as needed

External

  • Engage with customers and other Patheon sites
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and authorities as needed

Requirements:

  • Minimal 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in life sciences, pharmaceutical or medical device product development
  • Preferred Fields of Study: Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related discipline
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Understanding of cGMP desirable
  • Six Sigma certification a plus
  • 3+ years technical project/program management experience leading complex initiatives

Skills & Attributes

  • Demonstrated expertise in project management methodologies, tools and best practices
  • Strong understanding of stage-gate product development processes and quality management systems
  • Experience managing program budgets, timelines, resources and stakeholder communications
  • Excellent team leadership abilities with proven success in collaborative environments
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level presentations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with data-driven decision making

  • Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements, and industry standards
  • Proficiency with project management and collaboration tools (MS Project, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Strong organizational and time management skills managing multiple concurrent projects
  • Travel up to 15% may be required
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in professional environment
