Boeing Defense, Space, and Security’s (BDS) Program Management (PM) functional homeroom provides program managers with the processes and tools, appropriately trained resources, and practical guidance and oversight needed to win and execute on development, integration/test, and production business for BDS.  Our goal is to unlock “best in industry” program performance by developing world-class Program Management personnel; actionable policies; and mature, proven, scalable, and replicable processes and tools.

Our team is seeking an engaged and experienced Program Management Specialist to guide and coach Boeing teammates on functional process implementation and program execution. 

The position requires an individual with exceptional PM, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills to guide and facilitate the development and integration of plans, strategies, processes, best practices, and projects to meet business goals.

The successful candidate must be able to assess and analyze the key drivers of program performance and identify PM process dependencies to lead “full kit” development and roll-out of new/enhanced policies and procedures. 

The ability to clearly and concisely communicate the details of complex subjects, both orally and in writing, to Boeing Executive leadership and key stakeholders is a core requirement of this role.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist program teams and collaborate with other functional representatives in planning for and executing key program management functional requirements (e.g., Risk/Issue/Opportunity Management, Change Management, Enterprise Standard Gated Process, Program Management Best Practice assessments, etc.)
  • Ensure that all the means (e.g., command media, training, checklists, templates, etc.) that we use to communicate Program Management requirements and responsibilities are easy to find, easy to understand, easy to implement, and value added
  • As a trusted resource for BDS Programs, provide end-user process feedback to the BDS PM functional homeroom as appropriate
  • Oversee maintenance of the Enterprise BDS Enterprise Standard Gated Process (ESGP) and tools
  • Use the Boeing Problem Solving Model to understand root causes of Risks, Issues, and Opportunities and then determine the appropriate handling courses of action
  • Engage (e.g. workshops, forums, training, etc.) the PM community on program management requirements, responsibilities, and best practices
  • Represent senior management, as required, to communicate functional policy, strategy and direction
  • Liaise with Enterprise, Industry, and Academic “Program Management” thought leaders to import best practices and shape our future as a function

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position is for 1st shift.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. (a final U.S. Secret Clearance Post Start is required.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with end-to-end project/program management: conception and initiation, planning, execution, performance/monitoring, and project closeout
  • Experience with Program Management Best Practices
  • Experience developing and delivering process improvement initiatives in complex, matrixed environments and presenting project plans to executive leadership
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners
  • Experience analyzing data and developing metrics to track “performance to plan” for a program/organization
  • Experience with the Enterprise Standard Gated Process and Boeing Defense & Security Enterprise Standard Gated Process Checklist
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance post-start

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with the Enterprise Standard Gated Process OnLine Tool
  • Experience teaching Program Management responsibilities and best practices in small and large classroom settings
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) Certification (current or in work)

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience, 18 years' related work experience, etc.)

Berkeley, MO, Kennedy Space Center, FL, Mesa, Arizona, Huntsville, AL and San Antonio, TX - $157,250 - $194,250

Arlington, VA, El Segundo, CA, Everett and Tukwila, WA, and Ridley Park, PA - $168,300 – $227,700

Oklahoma City, OK - $146,200 – 180,600
