Job Description:
The Program Management Engineer / Project Engineer will lead and execute complex engineering projects within the automotive component manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing cross-functional teams, ensuring successful product and process development, and delivering projects on time, within scope, and aligned with customer requirements.
The position will work closely with internal manufacturing teams, vendors, and customers to drive product industrialization, process capability, and right-first-time quality through structured methodologies such as APQP and IATF standards.
Lead complex engineering and manufacturing projects from concept to production.
Develop and manage detailed project timelines ensuring milestones are met or exceeded.
Identify project risks and escalate barriers for timely resolution.
Drive cross-functional collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
Translate engineering drawings into manufacturing processes including tool development, product manufacturing, and application readiness.
Lead product industrialization including prototyping, pilot runs, and scale-up with vendors.
Establish and implement manufacturing standards and process capability metrics.
Ensure Right First Time Quality through strong cross-functional team leadership.
Drive project deliverables through APQP methodology and IATF standards.
Ensure compliance with automotive customer-specific requirements.
Work closely with suppliers and vendors to conduct manufacturing trials, process validation, and scale-up.
Collaborate with automotive customers across India to support technical requirements and product implementation.
Ensure vendor manufacturing consistency and establish quality systems for product lines.
Provide technical expertise in tool design, component detailing, and manufacturing processes.
Troubleshoot process and product quality issues.
Support component costing and bill of material development.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering / Automobile Engineering
Preferred: Candidates from Tier-1 engineering institutions
10–12 years of experience in automotive component manufacturing.
Proven experience managing engineering or manufacturing projects.
Experience working with cross-functional teams in a manufacturing environment.
Knowledge of APQP methodology and IATF standards
Understanding of automotive customer specific requirements
Expertise in:
Tool, jigs, and fixture design
Press tool design for precision components
Component drawing detailing
Bill of material and component costing
Prototyping and product industrialization
Nonwovens manufacturing processes
Plastic film extrusion
Automotive acoustic solutions
Product drawing development using:
CATIA
AutoCAD
Project management and execution
Cross-functional leadership
Problem solving and root cause analysis
Vendor management
Manufacturing process optimization
Customer collaboration
