Job Purpose

The BorgWarner Arden campus offers two world class technical centers and a cutting-edge manufacturing facility that designs and produces turbos, fan, and fan drive components for the automotive industry. The Arden campus offers a multitude of career opportunities and is in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina.

Reporting to Program Manager, responsible for organizing, coordinating, and executing a comprehensive project management regimen that meets customer expectations. Reporting to Manager, Program Management, support continuous improvement of existing Program Management processes/tools for Arden, NC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with Manager, Program Management, evaluates and executes continuous improvement of existing Program Management processes and tools.
  • Provides project management for customer programs, focusing on (1) the assertive oversight of product launches, (2) vigilant cost containment, avoidance, and reduction throughout a product’s life cycle, (3) a comprehensive communications effort
  • Works at all levels of the organization to build a case for the program and gain the commitment of the department heads allowing the allocation of the necessary resources
  • Interacts with customer teams to help develop and lead programs aimed at satisfying customer demands
  • Serves as program owner, accountable for the execution and success of the program
  • Leads the program team to achieve the financial results the program was approved on
  • Develops programs from inception through completion of Quality Gate 6
  • Leads customer program teams through established BW PM process. This would include but not be limited to strategic programs involving planning and defining objectives, product design and development, process design and development, product and process validation, and initial production performance
  • Drives the APQP process to meet cost, timing, and delivery objectives in a TS16949 environment
  • Ensures internal and external required documentation is delivered on time
  • Creates and manages program timelines to meet critical milestones
  • Manages financial outcomes of the programs
  • Maintains program charter, timing plan, and gate review metrics and documentation
  • Ensures customer team members are trained on BW PM process when needed
  • Establishes and maintains communications with both customer personnel and senior management
  • Effectively presents high-level information to senior management and customers
  • Ensures that common inquires or complaints from customers and internal personnel are handled in a timely manner
  • Develops relationships with customers that make the product launches an experience that contributes to awarding new business in the future
  • Recognizes, identifies, and drives changes/improvements to BW PM process.
  • Leads program team to meet APQP requirements and deadlines.
  • Understands financial reports and engineering documents/data
  • Understands and adheres to current quality and control policies
  • Understands and adheres to current health, safety, and environmental policies
  • Communicates and enforces safe work procedures
  • Identifies and closes safety issues (suggestions, inspection, and investigation findings) and their corrective actions.
  • Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

What we are looking for

  • In progress to Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience working in cross/multi-functional teams preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) required
  • Demonstrated team leadership experience preferred
  • Technical competence, problem solving, organization, and communication skills required
  • Familiarity with turbochargers and/or engines is preferred
  • Solid understanding of engineering and manufacturing functions within the automotive supplier market segment preferred
