3What Skills Will You Be Responsible For?
Provides artistic support to Performing Arts Camp Team, including Arts Camp Coordinator and Camp Leaders
Leads skill-building games and improvisation exercises
Develops and writes scripts for performances
Collaborates with the Arts Camp Coordinator to design weekly program plans that align with HIGH FIVE® principles
Sets up and takes down equipment required for daily programming and performances
Contributes to the day‑to‑day coordination and delivery of camp activities
Fosters a welcoming, positive, and inclusive environment that encourages participant engagement and success
Provides regular updates to the Coordinator, Cultural Services (Programming and Outreach), and conducts daily check‑ins with the Arts Camp Coordinator and Camp Leaders to support quality program delivery and smooth activity transitions.
Builds positive working relationships with employees and participants through clear, respectful, and collaborative communication.
Attends and participates in mandatory employee functions: training, meetings, and allocated program times
Maintains a thorough understanding of camp standard operating procedures and supports the entire camp team in enforcing the established rules and guidelines governing the safety and conduct of participants
Maintains a safe, clean, and well‑supervised program environment, including proper use and storage of equipment and adherence to all health and safety requirements including the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
Reports all accidents, incidents, and site damage to immediate supervisor promptly
Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with departmental objectives
What Skills and Experience Will You Bring to the Team?
Secondary School Diploma required
Post-Secondary Education in theatre is considered an asset
Minimum of two (2) years teaching and/or program instruction experience in performing arts is required
Previous experience working in a camp setting is considered an asset
Demonstrated experience working with persons with exceptionalities
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work well independently and in a team environment
Standard First Aid and CPR C are required
HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) is required
In accordance with the Corporate Criminal Record Check Policy, the position requires the incumbent to submit a Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening upon employment
What Will We Need From You?
Ability to work up to 30 hours per week for the duration of July & August, with hours varying based on program registration numbers
Ability to work one evening every two weeks for performance events
Participation in all scheduled paid camp training sessions held during the evenings and weekends in May and June is mandatory and a condition of employment
The Drama Instructor must be available to teach: July 6, 2026 – August 28, 2026
Evening commitment is required on the following Thursdays: July 16, July 30, August 13, and August 27, 2026
