Job Overview

The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting administrative, academic, and operational processes of the Master’s of Science programs in Environment and Sustainability Management, and Climate, Environment and Health, two joint graduate degree programs offered by the Earth Commons in partnership with the School of Business and School of Health respectively. These include: commitment to student success as part of an equitable and diverse community; academic planning, and administration; providing admissions support to applicants as well as supporting academic affairs / student services to enrolled students; co-curricular and faculty support; event support; and general administrative operations for the programs.

The Program Coordinator is the primary point of contact for all students and is responsible for day-to-day, on-the-ground activities to manage and maintain a successful and vibrant program. The Program Coordinator works closely with the program teams to implement policies and procedures and to evaluate initiatives designed to enhance the student experience. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: leading the registration process; auditing students’ degree progress; preparing grade reports and class ranks; and developing and executing program events including New Student Orientation. Because the Program Coordinator will interface with and provide comprehensive support and resources to all students, the Coordinator will also be a liaison between the students and university support (e.g., Office of Financial Aid, Student Accounts, Office of Global Studies, JOGS, ECo, SoH, MSB, University Registrar, Academic Resource Center, Counseling and Psychiatric Service). The Program Coordinator will also work closely with other academic units and participate in program review.

Work Interactions

The Program Coordinator will be the main point of contact for students, faculty, and staff regarding the day-to-day execution of the MS-ESM and CEH programs. S/he will report to the Associate Director for Graduate Program Operations for the day-to-day operations with dotted line reporting to Program Directors. This position will work closely with faculty and with all functional areas within the JOGS, ECo and colleagues in MSB and SoH. This position will not have direct reports, though may manage student workers hired by the Programs.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required;

  • 3+ years of work experience, preferably in higher education

  • Commitment to student success as part of an equitable and diverse community

  • Exceptional communication skills

  • Ability to manage multiple projects within shared timeframes

  • Ability, adaptability, and flexibility to work across various departments, schools, and reporting structures

  • Ability to adapt to changes in technology as well as the policies and procedures that support activity at the university

  • Understand appropriate and confidential file management, communication, and storage

  • Experience working with and supporting students and faculty

  • Exceptional customer service skills, strong interpersonal, leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving skills

  • Self-starter and comfortable making and communicating difficult decisions

  • Ability to plan and coordinate orientation and other activities related to the program

  • Interest in and mindset to work across sectors and academic disciplines, especially sustainability, environment, and business

  • Knowledge of the following applications: Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat Pro, WordPress or other web editing tools, Banner/Cognos or other student information systems, slate or other student admissions systems, and Workday

Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
