The Department of Management at the Kogod School of Business in American University invites applications for a term, non-tenure track faculty position for the Academic Year 2026-27. Initial appointments are typically at the rank of Professorial Lecturer for one year starting August 2026 and renewable subject to satisfactory review/performance and budgetary approval. Faculty are eligible to be considered for promotion subject to the appropriate qualification and promotion requirements. The standard teaching load for term faculty is six courses per year. In compliance with DC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000.
Qualifications. We welcome applications from professional or scholarly backgrounds in line with the position needs. Preferred candidates will have (1) Ph.D., MBA, JD, or related graduate or terminal degree from a nationally-accredited institution in Business Management or other relevant fields; (2) university-level teaching experience in Management or related areas with a strong commitment to high-quality pedagogy, including currency in teaching content, methods, pedagogical use of artificial intelligence, and instructional technology; (3) curricular and program development experience; Where possible, candidates should provide evidence of teaching preparation, rigor, methods, and student engagement.
Responsibilities. Term faculty are expected to teach and provide instructional leadership at the undergraduate and graduate levels in topics related to human resource management / organizational behavior, human resource management, business ethics, and global strategy. They are expected to be familiar with the scholarly basis of their teaching areas, as well as pedagogical methods for effective teaching. They are also expected to participate in department, school, university and professional activities.
The committee will accept applications until the position is filled. The review process will begin immediately. Initial interviews are planned to be conducted online (e.g., over Zoom) on a rolling basis until a suitable candidate is found.
