About the Role
We are seeking either a Professor Teaching and Research, Teaching Specialist (Academic), or (Clinical Practitioner), who will provide leadership in the design and delivery of engaging, student-centred teaching in nursing across all levels and delivery modes.
The incumbent will contribute to the planning, coordination and evaluation of topics and courses, including taking on Topic or Course Coordinator responsibilities when required.
A key focus will be leading curriculum review and development to create innovative, high-quality programs that foster creativity, critical thinking and strong professional capability.
The Professor will support students through academic guidance, career advice and professional mentoring. The role also involves integrating new technologies and teaching innovations to enhance learning outcomes, while providing educational leadership and sharing best practice to ensure the adoption of contemporary, evidence-based teaching approaches.
Additionally, the Professor (Clinical Practitioner), will focus on clinical skills training and/or supervision of students undertaking work integrated learning.
The Professor, Teaching and Research (Balanced), will deliver high-quality teaching in Nursing using contemporary pedagogy, diverse delivery modes and innovative educational approaches.
The incumbent will lead and contribute to impactful research by publishing recognised national and international outputs, securing external competitive grants, and supporting growth in the University’s research income. A key focus will be supervising research students - particularly PhD candidates - to successful completion and expanding the doctoral cohort.
They will mentor early-career academics through co-publishing, co-supervision and grant development, and contribute to or lead research aligned with College or University priorities. The role also includes providing administrative leadership within the Nursing Teaching Program or the Nursing Research Section, as required.

About You
You will hold a doctorate in a relevant field or demonstrate equivalent senior clinical or professional standing in nursing, supported by current membership with the appropriate professional body. You will bring extensive, contemporary senior-level clinical experience and a deep understanding of pedagogical theory and modern educational practice.
Your record shows excellence in tertiary teaching across classroom, simulation and clinical settings, with clear evidence of a distinguished personal contribution. You will have demonstrated leadership in developing, delivering and evaluating innovative, cross-disciplinary teaching and learning strategies that enrich the student experience and strengthen academic quality.
You also possess a strong understanding of the relationship between teaching, research, scholarship and professional practice.
With a collaborative mindset, you can work effectively across the organisation and with external partners to drive shared initiatives. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills enable you to build productive relationships with colleagues, students and industry partners.
Additionally, the Teaching Specialist (Clinical Practitioner), will have relevant, current and extensive contemporary clinical experience at a senior level in Nursing.
As the Professor (Teaching and Research), you will have completed a PhD, EdD or equivalent qualification in a relevant field and be recognised for your academic standing at a national or international level.
You are currently registered, or eligible for registration, with the appropriate professional governing body and maintain active membership with the relevant discipline association.
You bring an established national and international research profile in nursing, demonstrated through a sustained record of high-quality publications and success in securing competitive external research funding.
You will bring a strong track record of supervising honours and higher degree research students to successful completion and demonstrate a commitment to innovative, student-centred teaching and can show how your approaches enhance learning outcomes and support students to thrive.
In addition, you demonstrate the ability to build research capacity, foster collaboration and inspire a vibrant research culture within your discipline.
