Job description:

Qualifications:

  • Technical degree in Systems, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics.

  • Desired 3 years of relevant, hands-on, practical field experience in industrial, mining environmental instrumentation systems, including calibration, integration, and preventive maintenance.

  • Experience in digital instrumentation networks

  • Desired with experience or to be trained in CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for data entry and order ticking

  • Solid understanding of equipment management standards.

  • Desired with experience or trained in programming and troubleshooting data loggers, PLCs, and field controllers.

  • Experience with predictive maintenance, equipment diagnostics, and calibration verification using certified standards.

  • Strong analytical and documentation skills for technical reporting and KPI tracking.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to perform field work in variable weather conditions.

  • Residency requirement: desired residence within the project's area of influence (ESIA).

Key responsibilities:

1. Instrumentation Maintenance and Calibration

Execute and ensure the preventive and corrective maintenance, calibration, and functional verification of all environmental measurement systems (e.g., water quality probes, flowmeters, meteorological sensors, analysers, cameras, data loggers, and communication systems).

 

2. Programming and Configuration 

Develop and maintain firmware and software configurations for measurement and communication systems, ensuring proper data acquisition, telemetry performance, and network reliability.

3. Maintenance and Failure Reporting.

Report field observations: Actively identify and report recurring problems or abnormal equipment conditions to the supervisor.

Provide data for analysis: Serve as the primary source of high-quality field data, enabling the Adviser or engineer to perform the actual reliability analysis.

4. Spare Parts and Procurement

Define and maintain strategic stock levels for critical sensors, spare components, and calibration materials based on failure rates and lead times.

 

5. Technology Renewal and Modernization

Evaluate and recommend modern technologies (wireless sensors, cloud analytics, remote calibration, and smart diagnostics) for phased equipment renewal and cost–benefit optimization.

 

6. Documentation and SOPs

Apply and strictly follow approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

To support the supervisor in developing, implementing, and continuously update standard operating procedures for calibration, verification, troubleshooting, and data validation in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 9001.

 

7. Contractor and Vendor support

Support the coordination of contractor activities for calibration and maintenance of environmental equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and technical quality standards.

 

8. Data Communication and Integration

Ensure proper communication between field devices and central databases, including validation of data transmission integrity and backup protocols.

 

9. Reporting and KPI Tracking

Prepare daily, weekly and monthly reports on key metrics and activity logs on completed task, equipment status and any detected anomalies (uptime, calibration compliance, failure rates, cost trends) and propose continuous improvement initiatives.

 

10. Compliance and Auditing

Ensure all instrumentation activities meet corporate, environmental, and regulatory requirements; prepare documentation for audits and inspections.

 

11. Training and Knowledge Transfer

Deliver training programs for environmental field team on preventive maintenance and troubleshooting procedures.
