Professional Education & KOL Manager-
Role Overview
The Professional Education & KOL Manager will lead the development and implementation of professional education initiatives within ZEISS’s Ophthalmology Division in India. This role emphasizes building strong relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), engaging them in educational programs, promoting ZEISS technologies, and supporting surgeons in optimizing workflows for cataract and retinal procedures, including intraocular lenses (IOLs) and DORC products.
The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of ophthalmology, experience in professional education, and a proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver impactful programs.
Key Responsibilities
1. KOL Development and Relationship Management
- Identify, engage, and maintain long-term relationships with KOLs in ophthalmology.
- Collaborate with KOLs to create educational content such as clinical case studies, presentations, and training materials.
- Serve as the primary liaison between ZEISS and KOLs, ensuring alignment on strategic goals and mutual value creation.
- Facilitate KOL participation in conferences, webinars, and professional forums to showcase ZEISS technologies.
2. Professional Education Programs
- Design, plan, and execute professional education initiatives, including workshops, hands-on training, and online learning modules.
- Develop curriculum and content in partnership with internal teams and external experts to address the needs of ophthalmologists.
- Align educational programs with ZEISS’s strategic objectives, ensuring high-quality and relevant offerings.
- Deliver tailored programs to support surgeons in optimizing cataract workflows, including IOL selection, implantation, and management.
- Evaluate program effectiveness and incorporate feedback to continuously improve educational initiatives.
3. Collaboration with Internal Teams
- Partner with marketing, sales, and clinical application teams to align education initiatives with business goals.
- Provide insights from KOLs and educational programs to inform product development and marketing strategies.
- Support sales teams by organizing training sessions and delivering clinical insights to enhance customer engagement.
4. Event Management and Representation
- Plan and execute ZEISS-sponsored events such as symposia, conferences, and user meetings.
- Represent ZEISS at industry events, strengthening the company’s reputation in ophthalmic innovation and education.
- Ensure all events comply with regulatory and ethical guidelines.
5. Market Insights and Trends
- Stay informed about advancements, trends, and technologies in ophthalmology.
- Provide actionable insights to leadership based on interactions with KOLs and the broader ophthalmic community.
Key Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Optometry, Ophthalmology, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- Advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MSc) is preferred.
Experience
- 5–7 years of experience in professional education, KOL management, or a related role in healthcare or medical devices.
- Strong background in ophthalmology, with expertise in cataract workflows, IOL selection, and practice development.
- Proven success in organizing and managing educational programs and events.
Skills and Competencies
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to engage and influence KOLs and stakeholders.
- Strong project management capabilities to handle multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
