Would you like to help improve project margin performance and recover value across the project lifecycle?
Would you like to move beyond periodic reporting and play a direct role in business performance?
Be part of a team that keeps moving!
This role sits within the Global FPS (Flexible Pipe Systems) Productivity team and focuses on improving project margin performance, increasing visibility of value leakage, and supporting better decision-making across the business. It is a hands-on finance role for someone who wants to combine strong financial discipline with operational understanding, working closely with project, commercial, and functional teams to turn insight into action. This reflects the practical, delivery-focused style of the earlier role examples.
Partner with the best
As the Productivity Finance Specialist, you will partner closely with productivity, finance, project, and operational stakeholders to strengthen project margin reviews, identify recurring leakage, and support value recovery. A key part of the role will be linking productivity initiatives to project financial performance, improving visibility of how initiatives influence margin outcomes, and helping ensure there is a clear and trusted single version of the truth for project financials. You will help bring more structured financial insight into productivity discussions, improving confidence in performance visibility, benefit tracking, and the actions taken to protect and improve margin.
As the Productivity Finance Specialist, you will be responsible for:
- Partnering with the Productivity team, project teams, and finance colleagues to support project margin reviews (PMR) and margin improvement actions.
- Analysing project financial performance to identify margin leakage, recovery opportunities, recurring loss patterns, and improvement themes across the project lifecycle.
- Linking productivity initiatives to project financial outcomes, helping the business understand where actions are driving measurable improvement, where value is at risk, and where expected benefits are not yet visible in the numbers.
- Supporting the development of a clearer view of productivity versus leakage, helping the business distinguish sustainable gains from one-off movements.
- Working with finance and project stakeholders to improve alignment of assumptions, baselines, definitions, and reporting logic so that project financial discussions are based on one consistent and trusted version of the truth.
- Helping ensure that productivity reporting, PMR discussions, and project financial views remain connected and mutually consistent, reducing confusion, duplication, and conflicting interpretations.
- Working with commercial, sourcing, engineering, manufacturing, and project stakeholders to understand root causes and translate findings into practical actions across functions.
- Contributing to costing visibility, performance transparency, and more reliable decision support for productivity initiatives.
- Helping track initiative benefits, validate financial impact, and improve confidence in reported value delivery.
- Bringing discipline to productivity governance through clearer baselines, assumptions, benefit tracking, and reconciliation to project financials.
- Supporting ad hoc analysis for senior leaders on margin performance, risk areas, recovery actions, and emerging trends.
- Working with data and digital tools where useful to improve visibility, speed, and consistency of financial insight, while keeping the focus on practical business value.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role, you will:
- Have a strong finance foundation, with relevant experience in FP&A, project finance, commercial finance, operations finance, or business partnering.
- Be comfortable moving beyond pure reporting into a more operational, problem-solving role with direct business impact.
- Have strong analytical capability and the ability to translate financial performance into clear business actions.
- Have the confidence and discipline to challenge data inconsistencies, align stakeholders around common financial definitions, and improve trust in the underlying numbers.
- Be able to challenge constructively, influence non-finance stakeholders, and work effectively across functions, consistent with the stakeholder-facing expectations in the earlier productivity roles.
- Have strong communication skills and the confidence to engage with project, operational, commercial, and finance leaders.
- Be comfortable working in an environment where processes, tools, and visibility are still developing, while helping bring more structure, consistency, and discipline over time.
- Be confident using Excel and financial systems; exposure to Power BI or data visualisation would be useful.
Desired Characteristics
- Have experience in project-based, manufacturing, engineering, industrial, or operational environments, consistent with the context of the earlier example roles.
- Have experience supporting project financial reviews, or structured margin analysis.
- Have exposure to productivity, cost-out, value improvement, or recovery programmes.
- Have experience reconciling multiple financial views or helping establish common reporting standards across teams.
- Have experience working with performance dashboards or visual reporting tools.
- Be a qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), or bring comparable finance experience with strong commercial credibility.
- Have interest in using data and digital capabilities to improve finance decision-making and business visibility, aligned to the wider direction of more data-led, scalable ways of working.
- Have a curious, pragmatic, and resilient approach, with a strong sense of ownership and a focus on measurable outcomes. This mirrors the delivery-minded profile reflected in the earlier productivity role and council direction
