Overview:
Mitel designs and manufactures a broad portfolio of hardware-based products, including communication systems, PBX platforms and desktop telephony devices. While product manufacturing is outsourced to trusted third-party contract manufacturing partners, Mitel retains full responsibility for the development, deployment, and continuous improvement of production test systems that ensure product quality and manufacturing efficiency
Please note this role requires Global travel.
The successful candidate must be willing to accommodate business travel between 30-40% per year.
Responsibilities:
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Production Test Engineers, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and continuous learning.
Define and implement the strategy for production test development across Mitel hardware product lines.
Oversee the design, development, deployment, and maintenance of automated production test systems used in manufacturing.
Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams to ensure testability is considered early in the product design process.
Work closely with contract manufacturers to ensure smooth deployment and operation of production test solutions.
Ensure test coverage, product quality, and manufacturing efficiency through robust test methodologies and continuous improvement.
Manage project planning, resource allocation, risk management, and progress reporting for production test initiatives.
Drive improvements in test architecture, automation, data collection, and manufacturing analytics.
Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for production issues related to test systems.
Ensure documentation, version control, and long-term maintainability of test solutions.
Requirements:
Candidate will be responsible for analyzing new product developments and creating test applications
Candidate will participate in team and departmental design reviews and be expected to contribute to departmental process improvements.
Participate in Budget management and - as approved for the team - manage capital procurement as needed
Identifies opportunities in the test group to improve test capabilities and procedures to achieve increased efficiency;
Establishes long and short-term objectives as they relate to individual employee achievements
Candidate may be required to occasionally travel to Contract Manufacturers for on-site support, product transfers & test solution set-up.
40-50% team/department management, for rest of time focus on test development/sustaining activities/escalation management.
Additional Skills:
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
Experience leading or mentoring engineering teams in a technical environment.
7..10 years of experience in production test development or manufacturing test engineering, preferably in hardware or telecom products.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and manufacturing test a plus. Knowledge of related test engineering skills (e.g. boundary scan test) also a plus.
Experience working with contract manufacturers and global production environments.
Knowledge of test automation frameworks, scripting, and test system architectures.
Hands on Experience of test software development with LabView, TestStand are compulsory, embedded test application development is also a plus.
Networking (TCP / IP) design / test experience will also be a plus.
Good project management and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.
