Production Technician III

As a Production Technician III, you will be using your skills and expertise to perform a variety of our production assembly operations tasks on electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies such as modules, boards, panels, drawers, frames, and cables while working from diagrams and drawings. You'll be responsible for disassembling, modifying, reworking, reassembling, and testing experimental or prototype assemblies and subassemblies. You'll make continuity checks and quality inspections on work in process and/or completed on the processing line.

Certifications in IPC-A-620, J-STD-001, and IPC 7711/7721 are highly desirable for this position. A strong background in soldering wiring, terminals, circuit card assemblies (CCAs), and surface-mount technology (SMT) is highly preferred. Experience with mechanical assembly processes is also a significant asset. The role requires proficiency in using a wide range of hand tools for assembling mechanical components, along with expertise in operating various types of crimping tools for electrical assembly work. This position involves assembling complex electro-mechanical systems, ranging in size from very small to very large, and demands a detail-oriented, craftsman-like approach to ensure precision and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead complex assembly projects and ensure timely completion.

  • Perform detailed inspections and tests on assembled products to ensure quality.

  • Resolve complex assembly issues and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions.

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate technicians.

  • Document and report on production activities, discrepancies, and improvements.

  • Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to develop and implement assembly improvements.

  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of new tools and equipment.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance assembly processes.

  • Maintain thorough documentation of assembly processes and outcomes.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.

  • 3+ years as a technician or in a related field.

  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience. 

  • Progressive experience in a manufacturing, production or warehouse environment.

  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing principles.

  • Prior experience with electronic and/or mechanical assemblies and subassemblies.

  • Skills in assembly, soldering, and connectors.

  • OSHA 10-Hour Training certification (if not certified, must be completed within 1 month of hire)

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military 

Essential Functions:

  • Perform assembly tasks, including the ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.

  • Operate and maintain assembly tools and equipment, requiring hand/finger dexterity.

  • Stand for extended periods during the work shift.

  • Work in potentially hazardous or loud environments, following safety protocols.

  • Ability to travel may be required.

  • For office roles, capability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
