Platinum Group Metal Services (PGMS) is a leading refiner and recycler of precious group metals. The growing demand for low carbon and responsibly sourced products is creating growth opportunities in critical metals recycling and secondary refining, and as the world’s largest precious metals recycler, PGMS is a key player in the circular economy.

This position reports directly to the area Production Manager.  The incumbent is responsible for supervising the production operations of the Division, ensuring the most effective and efficient utilization of personnel and equipment. The incumbent coordinates the activities of the other shift personnel as required.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Ensures safety of staff, plant personnel, visitors, and contractors by ensuring compliance to site, corporate, local, state, & federal safety guidelines and rules.
  • Directs, schedules, and coordinates the efficient processing of materials within the various production departments. Assures maximum utilization and efficiency of equipment and hourly personnel to provide the greatest productivity.
  • Implement and use Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Assists in estimating labor hours and review of new products.
  • Initiates requisitions for the purchase of small tools and all materials necessary to support the production activity and initiates purchase requisitions for packaging materials and major tools or dies.
  • Must maintain control, security and is accountable for all in-process precious metal materials.
  • Schedules all labor, including overtime and transfer of personnel to ensure the completion of orders according to the production schedule.
  • Responsible for administration of the labor contract.  Tactfully address issues prior to becoming grievances.  Incumbent handles all first step grievances and participates in future steps, as warranted.
  • Responsible for approving and scheduling of vacation, leaves of absence and training programs for the hourly work force and the management of employee hours worked.
  • Recommends capital equipment purchases that will increase capabilities or productivity.  Participate and provide input into the design of new or upgrades to production equipment.
  • Performs regular inspections of their equipment to ensure safe operating conditions and continuous operation through preventative maintenance.
  • Responsible for comprehensive written reports as determined by the Production Manager.
  • Coordinate material flow to meet OTD and quality goals for the business.
  • Conduct monthly safety meetings and ensure good housekeeping practices.

Requirements for the role:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, Engineering or Technical degree preferred
  • 1 to 3 years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with Lean principles
  • Ability to train on 1st shift and/or 2nd shift and/or 3rd shift
  • Open to 3rd Shift - 11:00PM to 7:00AM
