What You’ll Work On 

  • Responsible for the overall results for a single shift of a multi shift manufacturing operations line(s) additional accountability could include providing overall manufacturing leadership for afternoon or night shift manufacturing operations along with responsibility for individual team.
  • Model and promote the behaviors that ensure delivery of high quality products for our customers while championing compliance with Abbott policies and procedures, meeting all local and statutory requirements, and adhering to the regulatory requirements of countries to which products are shipped. Initiate, manage and make decisions which impact product quality.
  • Model and promote a thorough understanding of what drives product costs, profitability and cash flow within the shift, team and department, while operating within budget with a focus on margin, material utilization and Cost Improvement Program (CIP) goals. Train others in this understanding for operator engagement and involvement in cost management.   Manage financial statements and budgetary responsibilities; share accountability for line budgetary decisions with direct manager. Track, trend, and continuously improve budgetary performance for overtime(OT), direct expenses, operating equipment effectiveness(OEE), labor, downtime, schedule performance (units per hour, Lbs./Hour), year over year CIP and material usage. (Note: This list is not all inclusive).
  • Drive OEE objectives; understand drivers, and developing and executing plans around improvement of line performance and quality metrics. Understand all key performance indicators, developing, driving and leading the execution of plans through utilization and involvement of all team and support resources.
  • Develop plans and execute efforts required to train and develop employees to improve overall manufacturing capability to deliver performance results. Create a learning environment and support individuals learning and development plants.   Coach and direct individuals and teams to meet performance goals and objectives. Directly supervises team and leads staffing activities.

Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS)

  • Lead efforts required to deliver the EHS performance for the shift/ line of accountability.  Coach and direct individuals in delivering EHS performance for themselves, their team and department.  Model and promote the behaviors that support a continuously improving EHS culture by engaging with employees and other key stakeholders in ensuring all EHS requirements are met inclusive of internal and external regulatory objectives and direction. Preparation and active participation in internal and external EHS audits and incident/accident investigation and reporting; coupled with timely implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

Quality

  • Lead efforts required to deliver quality and compliance performance for the shift/ line of accountability.  Coach and direct individuals in delivering performance required for QA for themselves, their team and department.  Preparation and active participation in internal and external Quality audits and incident investigation and reporting; coupled with timely implementation of corrective and preventative actions.

Finance / Business Acumen

  • Lead efforts required to deliver financial specific performance metrics.  Coach and direct individuals and teams in delivering direct financial performance including waste management, overtime and controllable direct expenses that supports the plant financial goals. Model and promote a thorough understanding of what drives product costs, profitability and cash flow within the shift, team and department, while operating within budget with a focus on margin, material utilization and Cost Improvement Program (CIP) goals. Train others in this understanding for operator engagement and involvement in cost management.   Manage financial statements and budgetary responsibilities; share accountability for line budgetary decisions with direct manager.
  • Track, trend, and continuously improve budgetary performance for overtime(OT), direct expenses, operating equipment effectiveness(OEE), labor, downtime, schedule performance (units per hour, Lbs./Hour), year over year CIP and material usage. (Note: This list is not all inclusive). Lead efforts to identify and deliver cost reduction of 3-5% versus previous year financials for the team/ department.  Assist in the development of department budgets and standards, including preparation of updates and CIP projects. Financial management and accountability up to $ 6MM USD.

Productivity

  • Lead efforts required to deliver specific Productivity performance metrics.  Coach and direct individuals and teams in delivering Productivity performance improvements in personnel utilization, Operating Equipment Effectiveness(OEE), overtime and controllable direct expenses that impact on Productivity.  Model and drive continuous improvement programs utilizing operational excellence and common tools (e.g.  Lean, Root Cause Analysis(RCA)) and methodologies in processes and procedures within the shift, operating line and department.  Actively plan and organize the day to day manufacturing operations and schedules.  Anticipate, lead and drive proper alignment and prioritization between production and support teams towards common objective delivery that supports the shift/line/department

People

  • Model the organization’s values and drive a culture of engagement throughout the organization by providing effective leadership, direction, development and support of the team. Assure team members are trained and understand duties, responsibilities, and performance against established expectations. Provide timely coaching, counseling and feedback.
  • Engage in drafting own goals with your manager. Assist your manager in the development of strategic and tactical goal development for the department and teams that align with business site strategies and goals. Lead the development of goal setting for the team and individuals on your team. Establish a communications framework that assures timely and relevant transfer of information to and from all levels and functional areas of the organization. Ensure compliance with all HR policies and procedures. Understand and effectively use the rewards and recognition programs.  Champion positive employee relations by maintaining a high profile presence on the floor, direct engagement with employees, regular open communications and encouraging knowledge sharing and open exchange of ideas.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.
You will be accountable for meeting our compliance standards including FDA, OSHA and Abbott policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Bachelors degree in Business, Science, Food Technology, or Engineering OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 5+ years' experience
  • Proven leadership capabilities
  • Project planning & execution experiences
  • Process control knowledge 
  • Proven plant financial understanding
  • Experience with working on Continuous Improvement Projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a regulated manufacturing work environment
  • Experience utilizing project planning and execution tools
  • Knowledge of FDA – 21 CFR and other regulatory requirements for Infant Formula

The base pay for this position is

$78,000.00 – $156,000.00
