Production Supervisor – Competitive Salary
Location: Wednesbury
Reporting to: Operations Manager
We are seeking a highly motivated Production Supervisor to oversee day-to-day process activities, ensuring smooth coordination of raw materials and fuels through the production process. This role involves close collaboration with Shift Managers and supervision of both direct and indirect staff, while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. This position reports directly to the Operations Manager and is responsible for the supervision of all day process activities and joint supervision of all shift mechanical staff
- Co-ordination of inputs and outputs of fuels and raw materials to/from the production process
- Close co-operation with Shift Managers
- Overseeing all aspects of day process activities and supervision of direct and indirect members of staff
- Responsible for the supervision of all day process activities
- Responsible for the joint supervision of all shift mechanical staff
- Responsible for ensuring preventative, corrective and autonomous maintenance plans are implemented
- Responsible for site Health and Safety and Environmental within his area
Safety Environment Quality and Maintenance
- To ensure all safety environment and quality management systems are implemented and audited
- To act upon any non conformances or negative observations arising from audits
- To identify any safety environmental or quality issues that require action and to plan implement and review actions required to remedy the situation
Supervision
- To assist in the, development and motivation of staff within this area
- To identify training needs for staff
- To attend and participate in safety or other meetings as required.
- To prepare monthly and other performance reports as required.
- To reduce costs
- Liaise with the planning department to ensure all preventative, corrective and autonomous maintenance plans are actioned and all relevant paperwork completed
Operations
- Identify bottlenecks and barriers to achieving maximum capacity and utilisation of the plant and bring about measures to remove them.
- To communicate area performance to all members of the operations department
- To develop running plans ensuring adequate allowance is made for planned maintenance activities
- Organise and monitor holiday/sickness cover as when required.
- Monitor and address issues related to ongoing safety competence assessments.
- Diagnose process inefficiencies and take appropriate actions to restore and correct operating procedures
- Coordinate with other departments in the achievement of production and maintenance objectives at lowest cost
- Coordinate projects and maintenance requirements with plant Maintenance Department
- Identify problems in the areas of responsibility; suggest and follow through on improvements to optimize efficiency by co-ordination of operations and maintenance teams
- Oversee all raw material and fuels delivery, ensuring sufficient inventory of suitable quality at all times by liaising with suppliers and hauliers, where applicable
Job requirements
- Strong knowledge of both process and engineering
- Strong supervision, planning, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Communications, capable communicator – able to explain situations clearly and concisely to managers and subordinates, ability to compile reports and presentations
- Dealing with people, able to work in a unionized environment, ability to lead a team, effective delegator, ability to enthuse and motivate people, experience of developing team-working, coaching skills/developing people skills
- Self, proactive, willing to take responsibility for any situation, resourceful, self motivator, ability to manage risks and prioritise workload
Education/Qualification
Proficiency in PC-based software applications, particularly SAP, MS office and other applicable applications.
