Production Supervisor Aggregates
Location: Chipping Sodbury

The Production Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient day‑to‑day operation of the Quarry, working closely with the Site Manager and quarry team. The role supports consistent production, high safety standards, product quality and effective site management in line with Heidelberg Materials systems and values.
Health & Safety
- Ensure all operations under your control comply with statutory legislation, company Safety Policy and the Heidelberg Materials Safety, Health and Environment Management System
- Assist the Site Manager with compliance to all procedures and systems under the Health, Safety and Environment Management System
- Lead by example in the observance of safety rules, use of PPE and safety devices
- Hold the appointment under Section 8 (1)(d) of the Quarries Regulations 1999
- Complete relevant sections of daily site inspections and checklists
- Support the control and supervision of contractors on site, including:
- Inspection of plant and equipment
- Adherence to method statements and safe systems of work
- Ensure weekly geotechnical inspections are carried out
Customer & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all materials supplied meet the relevant specifications and quality standards
- Apply Quality Assurance systems to deliver a high standard of customer service
- Deal courteously and professionally with all visitors to site, including customers
- Work closely with customers, Trading and Premix teams to deliver an efficient and reliable service
- Actively promote the benefits of purchasing from Heidelberg Materials Aggregates through the delivery of quality products and service
General Management
- Assist in the purchase of spares, materials and services to support effective and cost‑efficient site operations
- Support the Site Manager in period‑end profit estimations, including:
- Stock returns
- Production and breakdown analysis
- Written summaries and expenditure data
- Ensure maintenance records are accurately compiled and that servicing and repairs are completed as scheduled
- Maintain effective communication between management and site employees, escalating issues to the Site Manager where necessary
- Identify training needs for employees and ensure:
- New starters receive induction training
- Relevant specialist training is completed
- Assist the Site Manager in the prevention of fraud
- Maintain positive relationships with neighbours and ensure any complaints are raised appropriately
- Ensure all land, roads and buildings within the site boundary are maintained to a high standard, reflecting a tidy and professional company image
What We’re Looking For
- Experience within a quarrying, aggregates or heavy industrial environment
- Strong understanding of quarry operations, safety legislation and quality systems
- Proven ability to lead by example and manage operational teams
- Good communication and organisational skills
- IT‑literate with experience of production, maintenance and reporting systems
