Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that all relevant safety standards are in place and followed in the production facility.
- Ensure that all employees in the production facility wear the required Personal Protective Equipment.
- Supervise operations within the facility to achieve highest possible output
- Oversee the 4M`s in production (Man, Machine, Material, and Method) for your shift.
- To ensure that production produced is of high quality and to customer specification.
- To ensure that the production is produced as planned according to the works order and production plan.
- To ensure that the machines produce to the set targets.
- To ensure all production staff under your control execute their regular checks and recording the results into the appropriate check sheet provided.
- Upskill production staff through training, coaching and mentoring. Organizing training and educational manuals for the production team and assess production staff against set standards post training.
- To attend machine immediately if any non-conformity or any potential nonconformity reported.
- To plan and finish all the regrind and mix material before carrying out colour change.
- To eliminate lumps and wastage of raw material during setting of the machine.
- To ensure that mould, colour, volume, or weight changed are carried out on time, as per works order and quality containers are produced.
- To ensure that mould and colour changeovers are done in line with procedure and policy.
- To ensure that no production is run without an “FIRST OFF” QC Approval.
- To ensure that Date stamps, UN inserts and all other necessary inserts are changed on time before running the production.
- To run the machines according to priority in case of shortage of staff.
- In the event of breakdowns, apply escalation procedures to communicate disruptions in production.
- To ensure that correct and safe tools are used to carry out task efficiently and report any faulty tool(s).
- To up-date accurately all daily reports after every shift, by reporting problems experienced, breakdown, reason for rejection, absenteeism, and general communication.
- To maintain discipline in the shift by reporting Bad behaviour, refusal of reasonable instructions by the staff.
- To ensure that Shopware is updated and accurate at all times.
- To ensure that Leaders Standard Work is complete on time and as per plan.
- To monitor Start, Stop or Set machines.
- To monitor mould or colour change overs.
- To instruct/or and monitor staff.
- To report breakdowns and non-conformances.
- To reject non-complying product or move it to Quarantine area.
Authority
- Apply discipline procedures when behaviours are not in line with prescribed Greif code of conduct.
- Perform monthly performance reviews on team reporting to the production supervisor.
- Determine the need for overtime.
- Instruct visitors, contractors and/or employees to leave the premises of the plant if work and/or behaviour does not align with Greif Safety and Health Policies and Procedures.
- Approve and decline leave for sub-ordinates.
- Document and approve type test settings and results.
- Update and approve engineering change requests.
