This is a critical role within the business, which requires both strong planning technical skills as well as the ability to lead, inspire and coach the P&C team. The role is integral to the business success, achieving strong performance and meeting our delivery commitments. Defence Manufacturing has a wide breadth of capability across a growing product portfolio, covering both new manufacture of products for the JSF LiftSystem (within LiftWorks), as well as Component Repair activities on a variety of other Defence Programmes such as EJ200, Adour and TP400 (within RepairWorks). 

This position will appeal to someone with planning or operational experience that thrives in a dynamic, team oriented operational environment, with a proven track record of high performance. Knowledge of planning systems such as SAP and tools & processes including ERP compliance and load & capacity are essential. In addition to this, familiarity with the customer demand process SIOP (OE) and JPR (MRO/Repair) would be preferrable.

What you will be doing:

  • Accountability of production planning and clear communication to the operations environment to enable successful execution in accordance with these plans
  • Own and drive short, medium and long term delivery commitments, identifying and providing solutions to any potential capacity or critical supply issues whilst ensuring risks that have the potential to impact on delivery are identified, prioritised, escalated, and impact is understood throughout the wider business.
  • Ownership of inventory (Material input, WiP and stock) to ensure the business operates at an effective and efficient level
  •  Provide professional leadership and engagement to a team of P&C professionals through effective development planning and coaching whilst maintaining functional competence and core skills, sharing of best practice and continuous improvement of standard processes.

Role requirements:

  • SAP knowledge and working experience with MRP systems
  • Experience of supply chain planning and control processes
  • Strong leadership behaviours; influencing, priority setting, conflict resolution and ability to build, motivate and maintain effective teams
  • Dealing with ambiguity and innovating/collaborating with others to solve complex problems
  • Ability to improve business performance through effective leadership of direct report
