Production Planner

Wuhan - China Full time

Key Accountabilities

  • Production Scheduling & Capacity Planning:
    • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules using ERP/MES systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) to meet customer delivery deadlines.
    • Monitor capacity utilization and identify bottlenecks; propose solutions to optimize production flow.
    • Coordinate with production supervisors to ensure schedule adherence and address deviations in real-time.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Manage raw material and finished goods inventory levels to meet target service levels while minimizing carrying costs.
    • Collaborate with procurement to ensure timely availability of materials and avoid production delays.
    • Implement inventory control strategies to reduce obsolescence and improve turnover.
  • Demand & Supply Alignment:
    • Participate in Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) meetings to align production plans with sales forecasts.
    • Analyze demand variability and adjust schedules to accommodate urgent orders or changes in priority.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting:
    • Generate daily/weekly production performance reports, including schedule adherence, capacity utilization, and inventory metrics.
    • Use data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Liaise with procurement, logistics, quality assurance, and sales teams to resolve conflicts and ensure smooth operations.
    • Communication schedule changes proactively to all stakeholders.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to streamline planning processes, reduce lead times, and enhance supply chain resilience.
    • Support the implementation of digital tools (e.g., APS - Advanced Planning Systems) for automated scheduling.

Qualifications & Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in production planning, inventory management, or supply chain planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, formulas).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to dynamic operational changes.

Preferred:

  • Certification in APICS CPIM or CSCP.
  • Experience with Advanced Planning Systems (APS) or demand planning tools.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles (e.g., Just-in-Time, Kanban).
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO standards, GMP).
