Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Cast-On-Strap (COS) Machine Operator to join our manufacturing team.  This role is responsible for operating and maintaining COS machinery used in the production of lead-acid batteries. The ideal candidate will have experience in industrial machine operation, a strong mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to quality and safety. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned as needed.

·         Set up, operate, and monitor COS machines to cast lead straps and weld them onto battery elements

·         Align battery plates and lugs for accurate strap casting and welding

·         Adjust machine settings to meet production specifications and quality standards

·         Monitor lead temperature, mold alignment, and casting quality throughout the process

·         Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs on equipment

·         Conduct visual and dimensional inspections of cast straps using gauges and measurement tools

·         Document production data, downtime, and quality checks accurately

·         Follow all safety protocols, including PPE usage and lead handling procedures

·         Collaborate with maintenance and quality teams to resolve issues and improve processes

·         Utilize operating work instructions, manufacturing orders, and instructions from supervisor or lead to perform production tasks.


Requirements:

·         High school diploma or GED

·         2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or machine operation role

·         Familiarity with casting, welding, or automated production equipment

·         Ability to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and technical instructions

·         Strong attention to detail and quality standards

·         Basic math and measurement skills

·         Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods

Preferred:

·         Experience with lead-acid battery manufacturing

·         Forklift certification

·         Knowledge of COS10S or similar automated strap-casting systems

Working Conditions

·         Exposure to high temperatures due to molten lead and heated molds

·         Work performed in a manufacturing environment with moderate to high noise levels

·         Frequent standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)

·         Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including gloves, safety glasses, respirators, and protective clothing

·         Potential exposure to lead and other hazardous materials—strict adherence to safety and hygiene protocols is required

·         Shift work, weekends, or overtime, may be required based on production needs

  

Salary Range:

$32,300.00-$43,100.000
