Job Description:

Berklee College of Music, a global leader in the arts and innovation, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Production Operations Manager (POM) to join our vibrant team at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee (BCB). This newly created role will oversee production and stage management for BCB’s Mainstage and Zack Box Theaters, supporting the Theater, Dance, and Music Divisions. The POM will work closely with the Performance Services team, faculty directors, choreographers, and students to ensure seamless and successful productions across multiple disciplines.
 

Key Responsibilities

As the Production Operations Manager, you will be at the heart of BCB’s performance operations. Your duties will include:

  • Supervising and Leading: Hiring, training, and managing the stage management team, including staff, students, and casual workers.

  • Production and Event Coordination: Ensuring that productions run smoothly by participating in production meetings, maintaining production calendars, and overseeing production-related logistics.

  • Budget Awareness and Collaboration: Collaborating with the production team and Division leadership to support productions being executed within established budgets, maintaining awareness of budget considerations throughout the production process.

  • Collaboration: Serving as a supportive contact for guest designers, creative teams, and departments within Berklee, including Box Office, Concert Services, and Marketing.

  • Scheduling and Logistics: Coordinating all aspects of the production process, from rehearsal spaces to event logistics, ensuring a seamless experience for both performers and audiences.

  • Manager on Duty: Acting as the key contact for select performances and events, ensuring everything runs smoothly from start to finish.
     

You will also be the go-to person for summer programs and other special events, ensuring that BCB’s spaces are maximized and well-supported throughout the year.
 

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Theater, Dance, Music, Arts Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

  • 5–8 years of experience in a production management or stage management role, with at least 3 years of supervisory experience.

  • A background in theater, opera, or dance production and a solid understanding of event management.

  • Experience with production tools such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, 25Live, Smartsheet, or similar software.

  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills that allow you to lead a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Hiring Range

$68,000 to $81,000, with salary dependent on relevant experience and education.
