Production Manager, Huron

Overview:

The Production Manager will be responsible for managing a large section of a manufacturing facility. This person will work closely with the Director of Operations in all activities to determine the profitability and success of the product team. They will lead a team of supervisors and their teams in a Continuous Improvement Environment and utilizing Lean Principles with a focus on Quality, Cost, Delivery, Safety and Morale. 

Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

  • Ensure full health, safety and environmental compliance throughout the company.
  • Lead best business practices through lean manufacturing thinking and The Terex Way Values.
  • Demonstrate good leadership skills to manage the Production Supervisors and Team Members in process adherence.
  • Ability to lead people, to pull teams together; to develop people and to lead independently.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of financial management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in problem solving activities and creating change.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a continuously changing environment.
  • Managing a flow process that is in accordance to lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability of strong training skills and a strong belief in the importance of continuous training and a strong orientation towards continuous improvement.
  • Strong Leadership of teams in all circumstances from hiring to training, management, promotion, discipline and termination.
  • Able to effectively create a vision based on company goals, initiate projects and facilitate their execution, using available resources and Lean techniques.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and support of company policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates high respect for people as individuals and as members of a company team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work to and meet strict deadlines and able to adapt to changing priorities & goals.
  • Good team player and able to work on own initiative.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Business or relevant experience required
  • The individual we seek will possess a minimum of 3 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment with at least 2 years spent in a manufacturing management or focus factory management roles.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must have significant experience with the competencies listed below:

  • Operational Vision / Balanced Leadership- The successful candidate will be able to balance long term improvements with the day to day production needs of the unit.  They will have a strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Customer Focused - The successful candidate will actively seek out customer centered assessments as the basis for key decision making. They will have a strong sense of analysis and analytic tools as a part of strategic decision making.
  • Communication- the Production Manager will be personally credible, professional and lead with integrity. The successful candidate gains support, influences others, and positively manages conflict. They have strong verbal, written skills, and are able to adapt based on the audience.
  • Performance Driven- The successful candidate will be practical, action oriented, well organized, and have the managerial courage to take stand when needed. They will be able to provide leadership to the team from the line level to the front office.
  • Forward Focused – The Production Manager will be open-mindedly considering new ideas, and opportunities on their merits. They will openly question conventional wisdom.
