Job Summary: This vacancy is for a WG - 5350-11,Production Machinery Mechanic located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, OFFICE OF NAVAL ENGINEERING in Baltimore, MD.

Major Duties:

  • You will serve as a Production Machinery Mechanic and be responsible for maintenance, repair, overhaul and troubleshooting on all types of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems equipment in the shop to assist in the construction, repair, maintenance, overhaul, and conversion of a wide variety of types and sizes of marine crafts and vessels in connection with miscellaneous manufacturing projects performed at the Yard.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Performs a variety of installation, repair, overhaul, maintenance, and related activities on a range of complex multi-axis, multi-function fixed and semifixed production machinery, and equipment such as Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) machine tools and other similar complex and sophisticated equipment. Participates in the layout, installation, alignment, repair, overhaul, and maintenance of numerous types of fixed and semifixed production machinery used to support the industrial mission of the Coast Guard YARD. Performs the duties of maintenance mechanic and maintains and operates fixed and semifixed machines. Determines the nature and extent of repairs necessary and makes needed repairs by replacing, reworking, or refinishing worn or damaged parts and components. Reassembles and installs the equipment, connects the power sources, performs operational and functional tests, and makes required adjustments to ensure proper operation of the machine and its attachments.
