The primary purpose of this position is to schedule, monitor, and control all Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) entering and leaving the PMEL, ensuring the most efficient use of manpower, time and materials.

Major Duties:

  • Plans and schedules a wide variety of complex TMDE into and out of the PMEL for calibration and/or repair Process all data related to calibration and or repair of items into PMEL Automated Maintenance System (PAMS) Serves as primary customer service/liaison between PMEL and customers. Coordinates all follow-up action with serviced organizations; keeps customers informed of job status delays due to equipment awaiting parts, or due to work backlog Prepares a variety of daily, weekly, quarterly, annual and unique reports utilizing the PMEL automated management system (PAMS) to provide status of work in progress, productivity reports, items due in for maintenance or overdue for maintenance Assists with loading/unloading, packing and unpacking of items received for calibration

Qualifications: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of recurring calibration and/or repair of TMDE using multiple process production control methods and procedures to develop information necessary for the efficient control of TMDE calibration process. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of production methods and procedures, labor and material requirements necessary to schedule TMDE. 2. Knowledge of Precision Measuring Equipment. 3. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; Ability to collect, compile and analyze production data from a variety of sources. 4. Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular work load requirements. 5. Ability to interpret manufacturing terminology, data, standards and instructions and to relate them properly to the particular control projects assigned in preparing schedules and in maintaining effective follow-up. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.
