Production Associate (4am-12:30pm)

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Production Associate supports the operation of automated packaging equipment while ensuring the quality of finished coffee products. Key responsibilities include accurately packing, labeling, and palletizing bagged coffee, replenishing and resetting automated machinery, and assisting with daily cleaning of equipment and work areas to maintain a safe and organized production environment. 

    

Hourly Pay Range: $16-19/hr

Location: Alameda, CA Fully onsite M-F 4am-12:30pm

What You Will Do

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with housekeeping standards. 

  • Package coffee orders by stickering, labeling, and packing into boxes or totes as required for each order. 

  • Support machine operators by monitoring product quality and ensuring all finished goods meet established standards. 

  • Conduct quality checks using electronic systems and inspection tools. 

  • Perform product-specific tests, such as leak detection and grind size verification, to ensure quality compliance. 

  • Clear equipment jams and perform machine or palletizer resets to minimize downtime. 

  • Replenish packaging materials and supplies to ensure uninterrupted production flow. 

  • Provide assistance to other departments as needed to support overall production goals. 

Who You Are

  • Must be 18 years old 

  • Ability to read and follow written instructions accurately in English 

  • Must be willing and able to work overtime as required, even on short notice. 

  • Attention to detail, accuracy, thoroughness and flexibility. 

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision. 

  • Basic computer/tablet skills 

  • Accuracy, thoroughness, reliability, and ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines. 

  • Ability to uphold and follow safety, food safety, and production quality standards. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Constant (5–7 hours/shift): Standing, walking, lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs., and simple grasping. 

  • Frequent (2.5–5 hours/shift): Lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs., bending, squatting. 

  • Occasional (Less than 2.5 hours/shift): Lifting/carrying up to 27 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs. of force, power gripping, twisting, reaching, climbing step stools, and hand washing. 

 

Work Environment: 

  • Exposure to nuisance dust (coffee grinds). 

  • Consistent noise levels (roasters, forklifts) that require hearing protection. 

  • Allergen exposure risk—Peet’s minimizes cross-contamination but cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.

The target annual hourly range for this position is $16-20/hr.  The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including the applicant’s qualifications, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education, certifications or licenses, other legitimate non-discriminatory business factors, and the geographic location of the role.
