Repsol is seeking a Production Allocation Engineer to join the Asset Control team for the Unconventional Business Unit, to be based out of our office in The Woodlands, TX.
Summary
The Allocation Engineer’s mission is to ensure the proper allocation of the production back to the individual wells and will be the Unconventional Business Unit point of contact in the allocation methodology. The Allocation Engineer will learn the QA/QC processes and ensure methodology is calculating correctly. The UBU produces gas and condensate at the wellhead, which is subsequently processed into dry gas, natural gas liquids and stabilized condensate. The Allocation engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary team that includes operators and accountants to achieve the objective of accurate allocation.
Essential Functions
Be the local reference of the production back allocation process and validate allocation in hydrocarbon accounting system to analyze daily closing production figures.
Establish the daily and monthly QA/QC tools and processes for data entry and the resulting production allocation.
Track and drive progress of new functionalities/methodologies within hydrocarbon accounting system.
Validate existing allocation setups and provide guidance to Production Accounting team and IT when questions arise. Be able to work closely with a variety of groups to understand actual field set up to ensure correct implementation in hydrocarbon accounting system.
Management of the sampling program, laboratory analyses, and recombination process for the purposes of allocation. Including QA/QC of sampling analyses (GOR Analysis, Hoffman plot, composition plot).
Utilizing the analyses, oversee the required HySys runs to determine the appropriate factors for allocation on new wells and validate the factors for existing production.
Maintain PVT tables in hydrocarbon accounting system – QAQC, Upload, Validation
Identification of any meter discrepancies and facilitation of resolution actions.
Identify and categorize for management the production forecast changes and explain reconciliation on a weekly and monthly basis
Theoretical vs Allocated production monitoring – variance oversight (wells, midstations)
Become the main point of contact for the NonOperated production and Operating expenses
Ability to effectively work within a multidiscipline team and matrix organization.
Ability to establish strong communication channels with the field personnel.
Required Qualifications
Must be fully authorized for full time employment in the US by any employer without the need for sponsorship now or in the future. Additionally, we are not authorized for employment under OPT/CPT/F1 visa programs.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or engineering related discipline.
Minimum 3+ years direct experience in production engineering design, process modeling, and production allocation methodologies.
This position is open to internal and external candidates who are permanently based in the United States and authorized to work here, provided they meet all requirements.
Required Technical Experience
Experience with hydrocarbon sampling processes and laboratory analysis.
Strong understanding of EOS and thermodynamics for multiphase hydrocarbon streams.
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Energy Components (or other production allocation programs such as Merrick, Avocet, Quorum)
Experience in HySys modelling, Python, and Power Automate is a plus.

Location Requirement
Position must be supported onsite from our office in The Woodlands, TX following a hybrid schedule.
Position does not include relocation assistance for external candidates. Non-local external candidates may be considered only if open to self-relocation.
